A 25 year old performance that I never get tired of watching. Brings tears to my eyes every time. It's as if she skates on a completely different plane than mere mortals.
Women's skating in 2022 , you can have all the quads and triple axles you can do, no one today has the grace and beauty plus the love of her sport like Michele Kwan. Thanks for so many memories and for sharing for those who might not know what grace in skating is all about. everyone stay safe in 2022
This was choreography that didn't seem like choreography and only Michelle could pull that off because of her genius. She didn't just interpret it, she became this wonderful piece of music.
This purely shows, why she’s the G.O.A.T. Tara and Sarah might’ve won Olympic Gold, BUT, Michelle Wingspan Kwan is undoubtedly, the GREATEST figure skating ever ❤️❤️❤️
I never get tired of watching Michelle skate especially this program. She is simply divine. We miss you Michelle. Skating is never the same without you.
she will always be the best figure skater in the history of the sport. Class , grace, techical perfection, heart and soul each and every time she skated. There truly will never be anyone like her...also i do agree Yuna Kim is a very close second..
No one skates as beautiful as Michelle. Her love of skating is written in her face, moves & attitude. I miss seeing her skate w/such beauty, in sync w/music. Thank you, Michelle for so many years of performances.
No one before or after is better than Michelle Kwan....so many today do skate, skate jump...we have given up artistry for the quad, sad day ...so celebrate Michelle, NO ONE IS BETTER
She is so fluid, there are no jerky movements, not a single moment is wasted, every move from her fingertips to her toes is as elegant and as polished and complete as can possibly be. We have some wonderful skaters today but, sorry. This is the standard, this is perfection and I'm afraid no other skater can measure up to Michelle's brilliance. Yuna is close, but still not quite on Michelle's level. The grace, the gentleness and the calmness of this program is breathtaking.
There was or is no one like her. Triple triples, quads, footwork, etc. etc.….are NO match to the exquisiteness of Michelle’s skating. She is the GOAT, hands down.
This woman is sheer magic ! Her performance here is flawless, her perfect choice for the music by Lee Holdrege was magnificent, Michelle may have missed getting Gold at the Olympics, but in my opinion ranks up there with the best, Peggy, Dorothy, Katarina, she will always be a legend in Figure skating.
Michelle shows her artful mastery of edges in this program. So beautiful. It's like watching heaven. Lori Nichol, Michelle Kwan, and Frank Carroll the most powerful skating team that produced so many wonderful programs.
Whenever I stop watching figure skating for a while, I remember this program and come back to realizing how beautiful And joyful figure skating can be. To me it is a timeless program.
That stirred my soul. The soundtrack and the way she interpreted it. East of Eden is a beautiful soundtrack for a beautiful figure skater. I miss Michelle ♥️♥️♥️
everything is this program is perfect. the way she moves, she interacts with music, she express her feelings.. the most honest and graceful program of all.
Does it get any better than this? I think NOT! Michelle is grace and perfection and her performance is pure artistry. She is the last of the great, beautiful skaters really interpreting the music.
How refreshing to see this after watching the current crop of Olympians do so many quads and axels and multi-position spins that they don’t have time to perform or emote. This is pure, beautiful skating.
She actually enjoys what she does. And I think overall she is at least one of the greatest...if not the greatest. She really coordinates her movements perfectly to the music. She is highly detailed.
+snofagun1814 I just thought the same thing months later haha. Very unusual for Michelle. The only thing I could think of was that there was someone else to come and the judge was leaving room "just in case" because the 2nd mark was the tie breaker. But then again, the German judge gave 6.0 on both marks, leaving absolutely no room....... Who knows haha. But I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice.
This music sounds like the kind you heard when watching Shamu at the whale stadium in Seaworld. For that reason I kept envisioning her as a big whale jumping out of water. LOL! I love Michelle Kwan though, she's just breathtakingly perfect on ice!
How sad that a cheating scandal forced a scoring change that broke the sport. This was pure, true skating. The sport has now degenerated into gymnastics on ice.
I am 65 years old and I've watched a lot of skating I didn't like some of the old school I like to Dorothy Hamill I like Janet Lynn actually and then I totally fell in love with Oksana Baiul and I like actually Victoria pavek from Hungry is great I like her style I thought her choreography was never very interestng. I like Sasha Cohen and Nicole Bobek a lot. Kwan seems incredibly predictable. Obviously she has great technique.
John Roberts Michelle Kwan was never boring. Michelle Kwan has these moments that tugs at your heartstrings more often than other figure skaters . She made a legacy because bi felt she was truly genuine while others did their scripted or boring routines that leads to no lasting impression to the skater. Even executing gorgeous spirals are not enough. One must skate in order to make the best impression. Michelle Kwan was way ahead of everybody else when it comes to passion and artistry.. it makes want to engage into lasting rapture at the performance of the day to remember..
I guess there's no accounting for style and taste I just am utterly bored by this. I see no content the choreography is out of the basic figure skating manual. Certainly technically she is very very good and that's it.
+Dale Bergman Your're suffering from an irony deficiency, methinks. And for the record, I was at the MCI Center (it's now called the Verizon Center) in Washington, DC when Kwan skated this number.
