I was born in this town. Enjoyed Pine River & watching ships in the Saint Clair River. Moved 9 times in high school so did not go here always wish I had.
Actually, Michigan’s are better for the most part for being more affordable and not having elites move there (with the exception of some beach towns on the west coast). I don’t know why elites can’t just stay living in their snobby suburbs.
I live in Marine City. St.Clair County is called the Blue Water Area. Yes we have very little view of the river dur to Rich People on Snob Hill. And along tne M-29 area. But the country area is so serene.
St. Clair holds a special place in my heart. My grandparents had a condo right on the river. I’ve spent lots of time here with them and I’ve experienced all the good parks and restaurants. Thanks for the video. 👍👍🇺🇸🇨🇦
Do one on Harrison Township, MI where I live! It's only about 30 miles away. We're "technically" an island because of the Clinton River Spillway, which is kind of neat 🤷🏼😂🤣
Agree completely about winter being better for sightseeing. Winter is actually quite colorful, but the colors are subdued, gentle even. Anyway, love your videos.
St. Clair is nice, I really like that whole area. My favorite town around there, though, is Algonac, you don’t have those plants in Chemical Valley Canada ruining the riverside views.
Algonac has a nice riverwalk. But thats it. I wouldnt really consider any part of the city to be a "downtown" area. St clair and Marine City both have defined downtown areas. Outside of the riverwalk, theres nothing to do in Algonac and its not walkable.
12:15 That used to be the middle school. That’s where I went from 6th to 8th grades. Had a really nice auditorium for plays. The high school is the original building. They’ve just added on through the years.
During September we have boat races and the Fourth of July is always lit Good small party town fun for the weekends also! Thanks for showing off our town! Ps that video made our town look small as hell hahaha
Yeah he didn’t really cover the whole town. Mostly local city area. Didn’t show our industrial park either where Magna is and other plants. He was saying we had to go far for work other than salt and Edison. Plus he needs to do a rerun. With all the improvements, the theater, road repair, that crappy structure across from St. Clair Inn. Nice to have you almost our town’s people. 👍👍

Yeah not always. Come for the 4th of July fireworks on the river, thousands of people come. Also we have high power cigar style boat races, which is a big thing. We also are a starting point for the Mackinaw sailboat races. Starting as in we host a lot of boats in the marina and lots of spectators in town. Come visit. 👍

Good afternoon Chris, I have recently stumbled upon your videos randomly and I have been binging them since. I am a geography, history, photography and travel nerd so your videos have been entertaining to say the least. I have lived in Howell Michigan my whole life and have spent the last 15 years in the transportation industry and I can confidently say that I have been to just about EVERY town in Michigan lol. Did you know that in 2018 Howell won the national "Greatest American Main Street" award for its downtown? Just a random fact if you ever do a video here. I would love to show you around and give you some history and insight on my hometown. Anyway man keep up the content you do and I will continue to look forward to the next video. I won't even lie I can't watch this video because it makes me miss somebody so much. Absolutely stunning shots though so far of what I watched. St Clair is a beautiful place I almost wish I would have moved there originally when I moved out of Clarkston. Far better people.
Have mixed feelings about St.Clair. I was born there, and a lot of my family lives there, but, with dad being in the military, I didn’t grow up there. I do have a lot of bad memories from that place, most of it being at the high school, when I lived there for 5 months, but that was 30 years ago. I have driven through the town recently and it is quite pretty there. Still a good video sir, and nice to see another town that I have ties to represented.
St Clair seemed very nice when I went there however I spent more time there and found it was patchy and some sketch, wannabe gang members try to move in at the same time. When i was on Harper going toward Detroit I swear, it was like a patch of Pontiac. Didn't know the difference to be honest.
@@ChrisHarden I grew up in St. Joseph & went to Michigan. I then moved to California. I miss the state & family there. But the thought of the snow & long winters keeps me in Cali. Love your videos, although they do make me homesick. You have a great voice for broadcasting; wonderful tone & such clear enunciation! 😊

Hey Chris do you have a video on the steel mill on the rouge River? The old Ford steel. It has a ton of history. Also you mentioned in another video that it was formally ak steel, which is true. But you said it is no longer active which is definitely not true. The mill has been active for 100 years. It's now owned by cleveland cliffs

Wonderful town. St.Clair is a former farm community that had a strong Germanic/ Northern European heritage. Hard work, pride, values, morals made St.Clair & still does. Religion has played its part too. Family orientated , business strong, small town relationships. If you will not or do not buy into the atmosphere, do not move here.
Where's the Himalayan sea salt? And, where's the Hood?👿 I suppose that it was already cold there, in September. The hardwood trees were pretty close to bare. Of course, it's at a higher latitude As for Colo., a lot of Californians moved there. Jobs in St. Clair?: It's a tourist town. Hospitality traditionally is low paying Lot's of pluses, for matures: No crazy bars and nightlife, less noise and hassles. Pretty clean. The lake, the snows, the four seasons--the quiet patience, and endurance, of nature....
I really like the boardwalk, but everything else just looks ok. It would be too small for me. I grew up in Columbus, IN and now live near Carmel, IN. The former is known for it's architecture for being a rather small city, & more recently, it's diversity. The latter for its European roundabout implementation.
@Nick.Koehler I seen St Clair but this is mostly for St Clair Shores and my impression of that was its a nice town but then I found it was quite patchy. I didn't notice the difference in 1 or 2 areas between Pontiac and there tbh with you. Hordes of black youths came off a bus in groups. Didn't seem like that kind if place at first I wonder what happened to it. I was feeling at that moment like gee, I might as well be in Flint or Pontiac.
@@morax-666 Call me it i don't care. I just report on things that I see. It's a bit too close to Detroit and you tend to see it there. And I also see why in MI that segregation happens more, one plus is that usually I won't get walked up to and talked to randomly like down south. It cuts those weird interactions out with black people that I've had.
There are a number of good restaurants. You didn't mention the salt mine/plant. ST Clair and Port Huron vied for the country seat of St. Clair County many years ago.
I still own a house there in Smith Creek but like I said I live in Las Vegas now I can never go back to Michigan I don't like the governor I think she's destroying the state
I went there, appears real nice in parts but then I realize it can get shitty I mean like once a pure nice place with no violence but I sense a wave coming on though of angry people and not the nicest blacks.
I'm surprised you didn't call St Clair a suburb of Marysville. 😏 If you were to go up the Pine River, you would find a lovely golf course, marine services and marinas, most likely catering to the higher income folks and providing some jobs.
I live near st clair and it snt that great honestly. Its a wealthy small city, and has horrible construction lately. Harbor beach and port austin though are really nice, they further up in the thumb. But st clair county just isnt a great place in general either
St.clair is a small town with no good jobs. Full of rich and old people. The population is decreasing because of no good jobs so as soon as kid graduates they move to a place to where they can work. Without living paycheck by paycheck. Edit: The town continues to over spend on there schools.

Tell you one thing, you are not going to make any friends calling St. Clair a suburb of Port Huron. Everybody in St. Clair thinks Port Huron is a Shit Hole.
