👍Stan and Rhonda from Over The Hill Adventures take an exciting adventure to the top of the Porkies Ski Resort located in Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park . In this episode of Rally Bound & Beyond, Stan and Rhonda ride their mountain bikes to the top of the ski resort to see the Fall colors. Their adventure offered breathtaking views from the top, but unfortunately, they were unable to see Lake Superior due to the weather. Once again, Stan and Rhonda find themselves exploring this beautiful, scenic area all by themselves. They take in the gorgeous views and race down the mountain before the rainstorm. The following morning they pack up their Grand Design Imagine 2500RL RV and travel from Union Bay Campground in the Porkies to Manistique on the shore of Lake Michigan. They were able to get reservations at Indian Lake State Park just two days prior. They are "winging it" and making reservations only days before their next stops, but they are trusting the Lord will provide. Come with Stan and Rhonda for another fun filled Over The Hill Adventure.

Watching this back made us miss Lake Superior all over again 🥹 I’m sure it’s a different world right now with it being winter, but how fun to go do some real ski runs in the snow?! 😀 I’ll just have to add that to our list and hit Stan with that 🤣 ❤️ Rhonda and Stan

Michigan’s UP is so amazingly beautiful! I’d go down that slope on skis, no problem! Indian Lake State Park is one of our absolute favorite parks in the UP. We even honeymooned there 31 years ago! 😍 Thanks for sharing. - Jim

Looks like a great bike ride! Love the lighthouse. We did not walk out there. You are brave. You saw a lot of great destinations. Next time you have to go to Marquette State Park. Beautiful place.

Ah, yes! Indian Lake State Park! I've been there many, many times as a kid. Lots of memories of that place. We used to go under the swings over near the picnic area and sift through the sand for money. Came up with several dollars one time. The same with Kitch-iti-kipi (Palms-Book State Park). It was a required visit every summer. That raft has gotten a whole lot fancier than when I was last there. I took Dottie there right after we were married in 1979. She loved it. Seeing Manistique and the Water Tower again was pretty special. As y'all can tell, I have a lot of history there from when I was growing up. We'll see it again this September. We have our reservations in Munising and outside Hancock MI. Great videos as usual! Rhonda is right about these Smart Phones: we would have a hard time living without them or the internet, for that matter! Stan, didn't you get a data plan for the truck's Wi-Fi? I have one and it's great --- until there's no cell service, that is! 😉😂😂😂 We're glad y'all got to see some of the UP. Hope y'all will go back and explore some more! Lots more to see! Unfortunately, Manistique appeared a little depressed and impoverish. I don’t think it made well through the pandemic. It’s very sad so much history there. A lot of businesses seem to have been closed down. You will love going back there again. Thank you so much for joining us every week. We love and appreciate you both! Blessings, Stan and Rhonda🙏🏼❤️ P.S. We have fancy hot spots. The problem there were no cell towers. I don’t even think a truck Wi-Fi would have worked. Although when we went to Indian Lake State Park there was plenty of service. How we got videos out during that time was totally our good Lord looking after us! ❤️🙏🏼

Manistique has declined somewhat over the years. It has lost over 1000 residents from young people leaving to find greener pastures to the older residents passing away. There aren't too many opportunities there for tech-savvy people. Many of the towns are trying to re-invent themselves as tourist destinations (like Munising). It's just a matter of getting the word out and attracting the younger generations. When I was a kid, Manistique had more than 4,000 people, and plenty of shopping. Between people leaving and the Covid, small towns like Manistique are generally hit the hardest. It's quite sad; it's a nice town with great people.

Nice miss speed racer. Nice video. So Stan, what is in the grass that you were thinking about? Yes I think that we need to go back there. We just went to get the IS system put on, then went to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to see an old Army friend I was in Vietnam with.

Hi Tim, Rhonda was a true speedster! It doesn’t look fast on the video but it was pretty fast for old folks. So at the top, the grass was really high so I was afraid to go down the face. I could see under the tall grass like a big rock.🪨 How do you like the new suspension? Will you make it back for the Quartzsite Rally?

Thats a really nice place, and the ski resort looks great - mountain biking was extra fun (esp. when you don't have to peddle up the mountain:) ! The area looks pretty forested there - I guess star-link is probably not much help, did you see anyone using it ?. We really like this series, need to get there one of these days! Safe travels!

Definitely add the UP to your ever growing list 😂👏 It truly was one of our all time favorites especially with visiting in the fall and seeing the foliage 🍂🍁 I do have to say we do have to pedal our bikes, no throttle, BUT they are at-least pedal assist which definitely helps 😅🙌👏 Can’t recall seeing anyone using Starlink, but there were some wide open spots for sure.
