Love frankenmuth Michigan . Every Christmas season my family has made it a tradition to stay at Bavarian inn for a couple of night to enjoy family time.
I drove bus tours in the early 80s...made many trips here and had lots of dinners at Bavarian Inn. I once was on my own and went into Zehnder's, at that time they had a coffee shop down stairs..I had a hot chicken sandwich...it was the most incredible hot sandwich I have ever had.
R.I.P. Dorthy Zender. Met her numerous times while visiting Bavarian Inn. A few times she was walking downstairs in the bakery and we bought a recipe book( signed by her). The last time was about 3 years ago. She was in her late 90's! Still goes around to mingle with vistitors. My family and I have visited Frankenmuth probably over a 100 times and still love it. Have to get extra Bavarian Inn noodles with butter. I stuff myself but it's so worth it. A bottle of red current wine as well.
Come on up! Beautiful place to live. I moved up here from New Orleans and have traveled across the whole state of Michigan. The Upper Pennisula is beautiful and pristine
We just came from Frankenmuth this past weekend with Auto fest going on. Never seen it Soo busy, ever! But it's great for business. Zehnders has an amazing buffet, the shops are fun to see. Cheese Haus is good.
You forgot to mention this is the home of one of the greatest rock bands ever! The "Greata Van Fleet" band. Touring world wide. See youtube for the band.
Yes. I remember them when they were starting out before they got big. They would play an acoustic set right outside the coffee shop there on main Street. I thought these guys are good..
Where in the world are the authentic German Restaurants? None of these are even close? Fried Chicken? Buttered noodles, Mashed potatoes? How about Rouladen with spaztzle und Rotkraut?
They have all those and schnitzel and saurkraut with frankfurter etc. You get all the authentic German eats but the chicken dinner is what stuck over the ages.
