Michigan State University, UPenn and AGTC’s Gene Therapy Proof-of-Concept for Achromatopsia 

CNGB3- Achromatopsia is caused by a gene mutation that results in extremely poor visual acuity, photophobia, day blindness and complete loss of color discrimination.
It affects dogs as well as humans.
Using gene therapy to deliver correct copies of the causative gene, veterinary ophthalmology researchers from the University of Pennsylvania and Michigan State University are successfully treating Achromatopsia in dogs.
AGTC is using a similar technology to create first-in-class treatments for rare eye diseases caused by mutated genes in people.
