Sheep affected by achromatopsia (a genetic cause of blindness) are dramatically better able to navigate a maze after receiving gene therapy.
For each animal, you see its ear tag before treatment and its poor performance navigating the maze. Then, you see the same sheep (ear tag shown again) after treatment (in just one eye) showing markedly improved performance; actually very nearly normal.
This research is a result of collaboration between the University of Florida, Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center, The Volcani Center, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Special thanks to Dr. William W. Hauswirth at the University of Florida for sharing it with Achroma Corp, and to Achroma Corp for sharing it with us.

Thank you so much for making this video! I’m so glad sheep with achromatopsia are finally getting some media representation. Please say hi to them from me. I find their perseverance extremely inspiring. It gives me hope that maybe one day I will be able to successfully navigate a maze just like them!

Poor 4954. Wow these sheep must have very severe Achromatopsia to run into walls while in semi-indoor-lighting
