at the age of 9 I was given a Rolling Stones album for my Birthday, that was in 1967, got to see them live for the 1st time in 1975, I have been to see them in the states, Canada, and over the pond, for a total of 52 times, they are the greatest Rock- N Roll band in the World.
I saw the ‘75 Tour of the America’s. I was 15. I was by that time obsessed with Git yer ya ya’s out, and while the show I saw didn’t match up (no Mick Taylor, Ronnie still a newbie Stone), it was The Stones Live, man. The next day, Keith and Ronnie experienced rural Arkansas (see chapter one of Life).
So glad Keith was able to sort himself out and become strong again, addiction is a powerful force. His little boy Marlon, is adorable here. Thank you for this, sad but informative and a tale of caution.
Recemntly, KEEFER said last final vice he ditched were……Ciggies! The human Riff! Let’s all cheers on for KEEF clear headed completely over all of the lot! Proud of you Mate❤!😊😊😊
This is very cool. Some great clips and photos I hadn’t seen before. I really wish there were more of Mick and Keith walking thru the woods where Keith is wearing a very colourful jacket that looks like it has John Lennon on the back. It’s a very short but awesome clip. I’ve never seen that jacket which surprises me. I would welcome any additional info on that clip and jacket
Your Stones documentaries rock. I luv them. I listen to as many as I possibly can & I appreciate the time & effort that you must have endured to produce them. Seriously, thank you so much as I have been a true Stones fanatic my entire life since first hearing them in 1964. Keep up the excellent work. Cheers.
So great! Thanks for putting in that legendary quote from Keef to the judge. Lots of facts I was shocked I didn’t already know. That Bowie quote at the end was just…🤌chef’s kiss!
Another concise and we'll done film. I'd be curious as to how you might present something on the rise and fall of close Stones associate Gram Parsons, who lived at Nelcotte during part of the Exile session. Gram remains a real enigma and I'm a huge fan. Keep up the great work, sir.
There's an amazing number of good biographies about Gram. There were signs of deep personal problems even in his teens, despite his charisma and popularity. Some feel he could never understand or cope with the suicide of his father, leaving him vulnerable to substance abuse. I try to think of the joy he had in his life and his music. 🤠⭐
To have lived the life the way they did and still be alive today is remarkable.all that excess being placed upon you tells us how fortunate the group has been. They say only the strong survive and in this case that holds water.
I can't believe Keith & Mick are still performing at 80 years old. Too bad Brian Jones, Ian Stewart, Bobby Keys, Billy Preston, Anita Pallenberg, Charlie Watts are dead.
Their Real Turbulent year's were from 1983-1988 after they were told they would be inducted to rock-'n'-roll hall of fame, Mick called keith& told him he'd written some songs, Keith in turn told Mick that he also written some songs& both of them came up with Steel Wheels.. 😊
I’d like to add that when William S. Burroughs was in Tangiers he also recorded joujouka musicians. Then lived in London. i do wonder if Brian got the idea off him.
OMG! How ridiculous those drug laws were/are for Heaven’s sake. It all should have legal anyway, in my humble opinion. They were so young when they hit it big…hard to handle the fame.
This was post WWII Britain, drugs were not big on the scene at first & few could afford them. Having seen the negative side of drugs, I disagree that they should be legalised, as a working musician I saw many talented people lose their grip on reality, or go to an early grave. A young, handsome/beautiful corpse is a look few desire, nor is a drug ravaged one.
The most turbulent years of the Rolling Stones were in the 1980s. Mick was sick to death of the Stones (or more accurately, Keith's drug habit) and started performing solo in an effort to ditch them. EDIT: A flammable vapour between Mick and Keith existed for many years, but Mick lit the fuse in 1982 when the Rolling Stones signed a new deal with CBS reportedly worth $28 million dollars, one of the most lucrative deals signed in history. Unknown to the other members of the band was that the pact included a solo deal for himself. Keith took a keener interest in the band's affairs after that, much to Mick's annoyance, further increasing the friction between them. For a number of years, it looked as if it was the end of the Rolling Stones, especially when Keith started soloing.
The Kelly movie starring Jagger, was a reasonable telling of the Kelly sovereign tale ,Jagger's rendition of the wild colonial boy is the movie's high point of justice
@andrewbowen6875 I'm from Detroit (blow the reveille)! Well, there's the story of Jagger OD'ing & being taken to the hospital by Peter Wolf. Allegedly, he was turning *blue.* That's important cuz coke (or meth) makes you turn red. Heroin (& barbiturates) make you blue. The thing about barbs is; You have to really screw up to take too many. Scag is more of a crap-shoot. If this happened; It happened in the mid-'70s. Cuz Faye Dunaway was part of the story as well. Peace. Stay Healthy! - Dave B.
Many factors contributed to the tragedy of Altamont, not the least being hiring The Hells Angels as security 😵💫 I know lots of fans revere Brian Jones and Mick Taylor but for me Ronnie Wood is 100% a Stone!!!
Never thought much of the Stones - I watched this as one watches a burning wreck. They appear to be driven mainly by Beatle-envy, slavishly mimicking and slagging them off by turns ... they kept losing members yet kept on, chugging away regardless, playing the same old numbers or producing the same old stuff - living in a state of arrested development, psychological limbo, going on for the sake of going on ..... a fate Lennon determined to avoid
The Stones music was rooted in the Blues, the Beatles was Rock & Roll with a smidgeon of Blues. They were never competitors, that's a myth & fans went to see both bands !
Everyone talks about Satanic Magesties (and for that matter Between The Buttons) failing but I love those albums. The blues rock stuff is great too, but its a big tent ya know?
It's strange that Keith blamed the people around Brian for not looking after him because it was Keith who had frank throgood ( the guy who actually killed brain) leave him and go work for Brian as Keith believed that Frank throgood was actually riping him off . (and he had) . That's why Keith really felt guilty about Brian's death , it had nothing to do with Anita .
