I wish we had a leader like Mick in the teaching unions. Six % shouldn't have even being considered worthy to put to the members. It will do nothing for retention or recruitment. If it passes I for one will make my first cut back my union fees. And as a former delegate, a local area president and a school rep, I never thought I would be faced with doing so. I do not need a union that allies with a government to make paupers of those in the profession.

Has anyone been able to ask the government why they are closing ticket offices? Will it make the railway more efficient? Cheaper tickets? Better customer service? Safer? More reliable?...... Nope, none of those, so it must just be for greater profits then. Why would any member of the public agree that the rail companies should make greater profits? While waiting for my train at my local mainline station, an elderly lady was almost in tears when she realised the ticket office was closed due to staff shortages. She needed her tickets to travel. No staff were available. Not the staff's fault - they were on other duties on the platform. At least 12 people were in that foyer and nobody stepped in to help her get her tickets from the machine. I did - and I got a hug! DO NOT CLOSE TICKET OFFICES. Save money elsewhere by removing middle managers and increasing penalties for train operators who do not perform and reducing dividends to directors and shareholders. Easy!
