Oh no i didn't even no he died, Mick Rock gave us some of rocks most iconic imagery which we will always have thanks to him, RIP. Thanks John for your imagery also.

Fantastic, thank you so much. Nothing we didn't already know, but a wonderful evocation of those times from Mick Rock. Thank heavens for his talent and the photos we have of those incredible musicians of the time. What an bizarre juxtaposition too, with the photo of Peter Gabriel as the gangland Reverend there!

What I really would have like to know is how was Barrett's demeanor, if he was talkative, and stuff like that. All we know is the testemony of his ex-band mates.

I think he was very quiet and at times incoherent as the 60s came to an end. By 72 he was no longer 'syd'. He reverted to Roger Keith Barrett

His behavior was very ordinary, he did few things, always the same. He responded kindly to children who asked him innocent questions, without knowing who he was. He went by bicycle to do the shopping, he walked without looking at anything or anyone. He didn't understand why some people were looking for him. He painted a lot and had few and disturbed memories of the musical period of his life.

Mick Rock was literally the last person to speak to Syd before he finally became Roger, when he got Syd to sign the Psychedelic Renegade book. Im so sad MIck is gone because I would have been fascinated to hear about how Mick contacted him and convinced him to sign the books. RIP Syd, RIP Mick.

Mick and Syd had a special friendship. I think he saw Mick as a similar artist. One likes to paint pictures, one likes to take pictures.

So her name was Iggy ehh? A incredibly attractive young woman, model level with a very womanly hourglass figure…ive always had an eye for her since first seeing the Album Madcap Laughs. Would Love to hear more on her if anyone can share? detail of Syd’s muse,..thanx Cheers

Met and had some drinks with Iggy in 2015 in Cambridge at a Syd event. She was bonkers and so much fun, really lovely. Kept in touch but sadly she died a couple of years ago.

Her name was Evelyn Joyce and was known as Iggy the Eskimo. She was with Barrett from April 1969, being introduced to him by Jenny Spires. She was quite well-known in the London bohemian underground from the early '60's with a lot of well-known rock groups. Her & Barrett's relationship was considered on and off from their meeting, ending when she came round his London flat and Duggie Fields told her Barrett had moved back to Cambridge. Edit: Also, she was not his "muse". She got married in the late '70's, & lived a quiet life with her husband until a renewed interest in her in the early 2000's becoming a part of dozens of Facebook pages who found her based upon her iconic picture from the Madcap album dedicated to PF and Barrett until her death on the 13th of December 2017.

Really cool pictures - the 1 thing I've always really wanted 2 know, though; in the inside art of "The Madcap Laughs", what was with that weird photo of the infant with a hand holding some sort of swab under the nose?

I reached out to Mick ages ago asking about additional photos from the session and he said he had quite a bit no one had seen. I suggested that there was a market to assemble them and he said, “Really, do you think?” And next thing you know …

@@JOHNEDGINTONDOCUMENTARIES I once had a very long conversation with Duggie about Syd. His side of the story ran very much contrary to the legend as set in stone by Nick Kent's 1973 Creem piece. He told me that Syd was probably the least druggie person he knew in those days. Even the other Floyds were more into drugs than he, opium being a major feature. He also told me that it was very difficult to talk about Syd because the story had become so distorted and overblown, it was hard to give the counter-view and be believed, despite the fact that he knew Syd better than most.

@@xwsftassell Duggie was a very genuine guy. I think his insights into Syd are probably far more valuable than Nick Kent's. Duggie knew Syd at very close quarters. Nick was a journalist who watched him from afar. Everything Duggie said to you corresponds pretty much with the interview he gave us. I imagine you've watched that too. I think what happened with Syd was once that legend had been set in stone, nobody wanted to undo it, least of all his fans, which was all very unfortunate for Syd, really. As was the bizarre carrer-long deification of Syd by the Floyd themselves. Will watch the Duggie vid and subscribe. Looks like a very interesting channel.

Aleister Crowley ?? Just who would choose him as a role model .. I guess the full truth of how depraved he was came later.. Timothy Leary … tune in , turn on , and drop out - yeah right , thanks Tim.. great advice - not such great advice for Syd was it . Maybe Laing could have helped - but Syd wouldn’t see him. At that point - when you took those shots of him in his garden .. beautiful beautiful shots by the way 👍, I think if someone had been there for him - to give simple spiritual guidance - at that exact time , when he as just kinda floating in the aftermath of PF - it may have saved him some time and some pain. I got the book - psychedelic renegades - the first set he seems immersed n the rock star persona , whether happy ,sad ,up down, whatever - he’s absolutely that. In the second set of shots , in the garden, he seems just himself - stripped bare .. these are very beautiful photos - and it’s so great that you guys were friends , cos it’s intimate and you get to see him as he is ( albeit confused, trying to make sense of it all) - in fact he is a completely different person- the rockstar image has been dropped. Hey , Mick .. tHank you for those shots , it’s a beautiful book, you guys were friends which just makes it so much more .. a real treasure- I’d have payed 500 instead of 50 odd quid. .. it’s only money. I must check out your later stuff of other people.. Thankyou for those shots of him in the garden - they are revealing and very beautiful , and your words about him speak to me. The series at the beginning with the Pontiac Parisienne - damn I wish I’d been there to help him get that running. Where is it now .. could it be just laying hidden away in some lockup with the same dust on it where he sat on the hood and left a shiny bit - and the removal notices still on it. I just love him for everything he was and it’s those little things that reveal so much . Swapped it for a mini ! Never drove it (?) The blu orange floor with the dust and fag ends painted in. No furniture. Your insights and words are very revealing and it’s such a bonus that you guys were friends , cos it comes right across. Wonderful precious and beautiful piece of work man .. Thankyou 🤍

People invest meaning in pictures, very true. And especially they invest meaning in album covers and album art. I can remember so many album covers that I would just stare at and ponder on. And of course the Floyd always had such iconic and intriguing imagery. And maybe it was because I was quite young but I would make all sorts of associations and assumptions about the images.
