Take a side-by-side ride on the Disneyland and Walt Disney World versions of Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. Note that audio in the left channel is Disneyland and the right is Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.
Wow they did a fantastic job. I'm not really bothered by or surprised that the Disneyland version is functionally the same ride, but the queue is fantastic and the fact that they added it to a park that has next to no space for expansion with 30+ other rides and all we lost was a gift shop that sold generic merchandise and some parade warehouses that were relocated is amazing.
I much prefer that to losing the great movie ride. They totally could have found space in that stupid superflous Star wars launch bay which is the absolute least of the star wars attractions and is just taking up space
Very interesting how the Disneyland version stays in the first couple scenes longer but they both sync up in the dance studio. WDW rushes through the first few scenes. But Disneyland's kind of rushes through the climax and ends up being a longer ride only because of it slowly going through the covered bridge portion into the finale. The only reason Disneyland's is superior is because of the queue and the benefits of being built specifically for the ride rather than using an already existing space/building.
The changes I caught were the track switch spins instead of falling down, the addition of a drain scene transitioning out of the water scene, and an additional tunnel was added at the very end along with changes to Goofy’s dialogue at the end.
@@trubenstudios4063Disneyland’s version is 100 times better than Hollywood Studios because it didn’t replace such an iconic attraction, it doesn’t feel out of place, and they fixed some major problems with Hollywood studio’s version
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any new scenes that were rumored in the community (besides the stretch of barn at the end) but overall it looks like the showrooms are more purpose-built instead of fitted within an existing building. For instance, the segment with Mickey and Minnie's Car looks longer, showing them running into the track switch, which is a better visual representation. Also, the front train segment that you detach from goes forward into a tunnel instead of swerving to the left like you did before. Also at the end, the final scene is long enough that you can listen to the entire song, which is great! There is some continuity errors though- on the Disneyland version at 4:27 you see goofy face and wave to the left, when Mickey is actually on the right. This seems to be a re-use of the animation from Disney World without any changes, which is unfortunate given the segment right before has seemingly new animation with the pots falling on Goofy. Overall I think the Disneyland version is better, especially when factoring in the queue, but both are awesome rides!
@@michaelbilgen2976 I’d say that would be true for mainly the actual ride system, special effects, and animatronics. Goofy’s wave animation that is being referred to however probably won’t be addressed at all as it seems like it was an error on the imagineers part, it’s entirely possible it’s addressed in the near future, though I wouldn’t count on it Edit: I just realized it is possible the wave was supposed to have goofy looking out from the front of the train roughly facing Minnie and Mickey,
I noticed that too but it still doesn't sound great lol! They should have had him say "Hey Mick and Min" again like he does at the start. When he says it it's still enough to make you stop for a sec and say "wait what did he just say?"
I just realized something that some of the scenes are different in disneylands version than Disney worlds version for example the track switch 0:48 the squid which was able to interact more in Disneyland version than Disney world because it was just sitting there doing nothing 2:26 and then in the desert scene was kinda longer of Disneyland version than Disney world version 1:04 and then there was goofy at the end saying that’s the end of tour but however in Disney world version ending it was short but in Disneyland version it was kinda longer because you were going through a tunnel 4:07 and some of the scenes I talked about had some newer scenes and some newer lines that weren’t on Disney worlds version but I feel like Disneyland’s version is more better than Disney worlds version
Though I enjoy this ride, and I'm happy the "Fab 5" finally have a dedicated attraction, I'm still disappointed that it replaced The Great Movie Ride. Yes, I do understand TGMR needed some TLC and upgrading, but still.
I could tell some difference between DL and DHS version, particularly who that voice Minnie at DL version. While Minnie's voice aren't too different from my ears, at DHS, they're voiced by Russi Taylor, while at Disneyland, they're voiced by Kaitlyn Robrock, who voiced so similar to Russi. It was kinda like how Bret Mickey's voice similar to Wayne's Mickey at early days.
@@lukefleds6422 I know but the references are in the version at DHS so did they keep them or take them out because the great movie ride was never at Disneyland
Exactly the same. Except that really bad goofy video at end when hes looking left instead of right on Disneyland (show scene is right instead of left as it is in Studios). This is really a simple post production fix called "FLIP". Amazed they missed this.
@@toyaliens “how?” Because it’s an opinion. Learn to appreciate other’s opinion instead of asking how someone can think something. That would probably make them feel invalid, lol.
So they are the same exact ride save for the "track" layout due to building constraints. What incentive is there to visit FL over CA? I can't imagine why and that goes for Disney to - imagination, haha.
Disneyland version is smaller in terms of height and even width at times (Daisy's studio) for sure - even though the ride vehicles are larger. Probably will not bug most people but I noticed it - and actually noticed the ride roofs for the first time riding the Disneyland version. The factory scene is superior at DHS and I like the quick transition to Mickey and Minnie better at DHS. Queue is great if you are a superfan but my niece and nephew could care less (though they liked the ride). I also think the Chinese facade is very underappreciated. IDK maybe I'm just a WDW superfan but that's my opinion.
I definitely agree. Disneyland rushes the back half of the ride. While I LOVE the Disneyland queue, I think story-wise the Hollywood Studios queue is better.
@@trubenstudios4063 So somehow Disneyland is cheap and lazy but for Hollywood studios they literally just reused the Great Movie Ride queue with little to no changes? Yeah the neon sign is cool but the queue at Disneyland is overall 100 times better and fits the ride way more.
@@coastermeister First off, another HORRIBLE use of the word LITERALLY. You sound like a tween in the way you use this. You cant say "literally" no changes then say "little changes". If there are little changes the world LITERALLY is poorly used as literal is 100%. It's not ambiguous. It's obvious you have never been in the Q at the studios. Many changes including flooring, wall decor, lighting, posters, music, movie pre show. Studios Q LITERALLY blows away the cheap warehouse feel of Disneyland q lol smh.
Secretly. I am glad they didn't get ride of Roger Rabbit. The ride is essentially Mr. Toad with Tea Cups. But when I first rode it... it smelled new and everything just popped. Later it felt a bit dated and far less E ticket. Then... so does Indiana Jones now.
Hollywood sutdios' version is better. 1. better lit 2. better scene transitions (the one leaving the drains is weird in the Disneyland version, as is the one after the dance scene. 3. better balance (not sure what the point is of the empty tunnel at the end at Disneyland's version other than to get the train back).
1. The ride just opened and there aren't a lot of super high quality videos to choose from. 2. The drain animation actually connects the ocean and city scenes way more smoothly compared to WDW. As for the part after the dance studio, they're working with limited space. 3. They're working with limited space.
Hollywood studio’s version just sucks mainly because of the ride experience if your in car 4 you pretty much miss a majority of the scenes while Disneylands’s version fixed all of that
Just rode the Disneyland version recently and I can sadly say that this is a ride that’s honestly better in videos than it is in person. The vehicles move around and jerk, yeah, but not in any fashion that adds to the experience, and the cameras hide the fact that it’s literally a bunch of wide open rooms with video screens along the walls. It’s a very unamusing experience relying exclusively on the excellent animation instead of theming or animatronics. The raft scene is especially rescued in videos as in real life the vehicles place you in individual corners of the room as if you’re on time out while it swaps them background to be underwater(a tactic also used in rise of the resistance and frankly makes me worried about this era of trackless Disney rides). There’s also the tire marks on the ground, which are very distracting given the aforementioned wide open space. I think the ride would have been better in a tradition track layout using an Indiana Jones style hydraulic system
Oh I disagree with the better on video part. The fishtailing you do isn’t captured on video. It was a unique feeling. Also the wind in your hair when the twister comes. Finally the factory conveyer scene, starts/stops in increments like you are going to get squashed up next by machinery. That was brilliant.
@@gregg5958 I mean, knowing modern Disneyland, it's 100% possible that the effects weren't working for me but were working for you. I've only seen a fully functional Kylo Ren on Rise of the Resistance one time despite riding it 10 times over the course of 3 years.
@@SaturnTubes That’s a good point. I am surprised I experienced them because I noticed a lot of things broken all around the resort. There was a Mickey item in the queue line that was missing an ear. The neon sign above the concession area was out. There were entire light poles with lights out near the ticket booths in the esplanade. In the Toy Story parking lot bus drop off there were lights without globe covers and even a light just hanging off of a fence, along with an additional one burned out. It looked terrible. Also terrible was that for whatever reason, flashing lights from Galaxy’s Edge can be easily seen from the area in and around Hungry Bear restaurant completely destroying the theming and the notion that you are in a wilderness area. All of that was really disappointing to see.
It's so sad that Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin has closed down forever and Mickey's Toontown is no longer a popular place for children to visit anytime they wish as long as they're supervised by a parent or a guardian on behalf of how wacky cartoon characters really are in their point of view. Nicely done!
*Gadget ‘s Go Coaster* and *Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin* are returning, Roger is probably done and is waiting for toontown opening, while Gadget’s is probably still in construction
