If you asked me a year ago if this song was ever going to be released or even given a chance, I probably would have said no. Yet here we are. What a blessing it is to be here in this moment. I hope you guys enjoy this lyric video for a song that came from the very depths of my heart. Love you guys. Thank you so so much for your continued love and support for this song.

I may not be black however being a person who has struggled constantly to fit in due to learning and social differences. This song is very relatable. It often seems like so many people are on easy street where life is perfect. Not many people take the time to think about others struggles. Whether it be skin or other differences. We need to do better bec things we say matter the actions we do matter one little thing can change someone's life for the better or for the worse. How I wish we could change things and make it better overnight.

As a white guy, I can’t relate to this song, because I’ve never been treated differently due to my skin color. However I can be/am a supporter of the black community and I hope the day comes soon that we ALL are treated equally. This song itself is amazing! I hope it really does well and gets the message across.

As a 12 year old girl I am proud to be black. My ancestors ran so we could walk. They fought so we could live. The world is changing and people need to accept that everything on this world is meant to be here. We are going to stand up for what's right. And we're gonna get equality no matter what it takes. #BlackLivesMatter isn't a trend it's something that will matter for ever. Are voices are going to be heard. We are going to live. We are going to make our ancestors proud.

There is nothing more beautiful and powerful than unity especially unity despite our strong differences. The world is so bad rn it’s hard to see the good in ppl. But there will always be some goodness in the world even when evil seems to be dominating. You are a beautiful human being who chooses to love instead of hate and may God protect u from evil that some have welcomed so easily into their hearts.

Landon Elias God bless you brother you brought tears to my eyes. I’m African, Somali to be exact. I’m blessed to have not experience the same level of hate, discrimination and injustice that black American ppl have experienced throughout history. Honestly it breaks my heart to have to imagine how alone they must feel constantly having to tell themselves that they matter and that the hatred the world has towards their skin is not a fault of their own. Ngl I too am privileged to an extent even though my ppl still face racism for pretty much the same reasons but not to the same extent. I want to see humanity prosper, form unity and respect one another because we are all humans at the end of the day. You brother have been raised right, you found a place in your heart to care, appreciate and respect a fellow human being because u don’t judge based on colour. You use your brain the way we’re suppose to, not to fill our minds with fear and irrational hatred. You get what you give, you have mercy and love for others and I pray you get that and much more in return.

@@minamuse3965 yes one can only hope and dream for unity and prosperity for all of mankind I honestly long for the day we are all looked at as the same I honestly do believe certain groups keep the races fighting because they don’t want us to join together and achieve unity and prosperity because they know they wouldn’t be able to control us and keep us down the world will be a much better place once everyone is treated equally and looked at the same

First, much respect for having the courage to even speak on something that has been swept under the carpet since the very 'rise' of country music! A form of music that incorporates the music of the early blues (BLACK FOLKS). DO YA'LL REALLY BELIEVE THAT SO CALLED COUNTRY MUSIC STARTED W/ THE EARLY WHITE COWBOYS...LOL?!!! If you believe that I have some desert land I'd like to sell you 10 miles above the earth. For decades now EVEN SO CALLED 'COUNTRY' folks don't even want to do 'country' line dancing w/out adding spice to it through more 'hip hop' & Black inspired dance movement being incorporated into it...lol! FACTS! And yet, these same folks have the audacity to not want to accept the very folks that they (not always...but more often than we realize) imitate! Anyone w/ a functional I.Q. KNOWS that the 'country music' industry is full of White folks who are culturally unaware of the b.s. that Black folks in the industry hafta go through just to get your foot in the door. I'm not in the industry. But I also know that you don't hafta step in a pile of dog poop to know that you don't want it on your shoes!! All white folks *obviously* are not racists (for you "He's a black guy saying racists stuff about White folks." types/ a.k.a. "Gotcha'" culture). As evidenced by the Abolitionist movement, white participants in the BLM, and countless more examples throughout our history as a Nation. Most White folks are decent, compassionate and loving folks. Who are non racist. Thank God! However, there are millions upon millions (country music industry is but a microcosm of our society) of White folks who are culturally insensitive to other ethnic values IN THIS COUNTRY to the point that the blatant disrespect is oblivious to them. This doesn't make them racist...it makes them culturally insensitive. There is a difference. One is fueled by malicious intent (racism). The other is unintended. But guess what...the result is the same...DISRESPECT! Example: How is it that we hafta STILL have slave owners on our currency in this day and age? Blatant disrespect to the descendants of slaves. Yet, Harriet Tubman on a $20 was not accepted...smh. And that's just one of over 50 examples that I can give. But as far as I can tell (1) most of the White folks who aren't racist have a high tolerance for it when they get around racists! Could it be because these racist LOOK like them, share (culturally) values? Could it be because a lot of these 'non racist' Whites often have parents, grandparents, siblings & very close loved one's who ARE racist? Which causes a conflict from w/in them? How do you convince someone to confront/correct the very folks who are a major part of their lives? In some cases, raised and nurtured them since birth? But I digress w/ my diatribe. Mickey, your song Black Like Me is underrated. And in an industry where (I'm almost certain of it) even the well intentioned & decent hearted White country celebs were psychologically uncom4table hearing it, you held true to YOUR message. *Some of us have experiences BEYOND drinking beer, going mudding in a 'souped up' monster truck, tractors & lecturing about patriotism. Nothing wrong w/ any of the aforementioned. Just showing how millions of so called 'Country' folks actually believe that THEY alone are the standard by which the word 'Patriot' & 'American' are to be measured! Which is 100% B.S. Guess what 'Country' folks...MICKEY GUYTON (and literally millions who look like her) ARE AMERICAN!!! Your discomfort w/ it doesn't change it. In the REAL WORLD country and 'southern' doesn't mean 'White'. But you'd be surprised at the millions of folks who've been programmed since childhood to believe just that...lol. I remember meeting Charley Pride at a Dallas Mavericks game about 6 yrs ago. I asked him how he managed to mentally deal w/ the 'haters' in the country music industry. He knew exactly what I was referring to. I won't betray his privacy. But let's just say that back then in country music a Black Artist had to be willing to NOT touch upon (through song) anything that they may have experienced/endured in order to be accepted. In other words, keep your peers com4table & you'll be fine...smh. 'Country' artists like Morgan Wallen are more plentiful than we'd like to acknowledge (White, arrogant & racist). But the good news is that the decent White folks who actually ARE secure in themselves (non racist) outnumber the one's who are not...lol. I just hope that this is the case in country music. Just my views...it is what it is. All hail the decent humans in the country music industry (like Dolly Parton) who don't care about a person's skin color.
