beautiful my mummy used to say when this tune was played on radio/tv that it was wrote by a fermanagh man and I used to say to her she was "raving" ... how wrong was I **Mickey Mc Connell THANK YOU** for this fantastic piece of loveliness 🤍
@@liamfitzlive4679 glad to hear it 💚🤍 tried to get it nominated for "best irish song" but failed in my attempts, will try again if the opportunity arises 👍🏼
I think James Cardoness needs a lesson in History but this is NO place for History or politics James. Listen to the song please, its what the people felt was the truth. God Bless our Micky McConnell we love you Micky, I am Glaswegian through all the shit what happened. I love my Home country but home is in Ireland
Andy web has it right ! The first place in Europe where tenants had the legal right to buy their farms for less than their rent per year with 50 year loans from the government to make sure the tenants could affords them. Then at the formation of the free state the loans where handed to the free state by the British for 11 million pounds ( they where held in international bonds)when the loans were worth 86 million pounds the free state then recovered the 86 million pounds for 50 years from the Irish land commission. But like a lot of facts air brushed from history by so called republicans claiming Ireland was not free when in fact Ireland has never been one country but seven different kingdoms before a Pope asked the English king to invade Ireland the only time it was ever one country was under English rule. I suggest that republicans today study the real Irish history and not the republican misinformation fed by people that would happily bomb shops and kill pregnant women shopping for school clothes.
I come to you, I steal your house, I ask you to pay rent, and then I give you the right to buy it from me, do you realize what nonsense you say there ???... fuck the English
@@TheLupulalb No, no, no. You don't understand my friend. To the English, they've only done good in Ireland. They don't recognize anything wrong they've done here. Well said on your part though.
.... Ireland has always been free it was never one country it was 4 different ones( however it was the first place in the world where tenants had the right to buy the land they rented with 50 year loans provided by the Gov to reduce the cost below the rental cost by 100%) ( but don't ask the provos they have a different view)) ...... if real history could write songs the world would be a better place !
