"Exploring sound with the micro:bit V2 & MicroBlocks," presented by John Maloney & Bernat Romagosa
This session will explore sound and music on the new micro:bit v2. Using MicroBlocks -- a free, Scratch-like, blocks language -- it will show how to:
* record, play back, and graph sound
* synthesize a guitar string
* create and play "ring tone" tunes
* play four-part harmony through a single speaker
* graph loudness and make a loudness meter
* use hand claps to control a micro:bit v2
The libraries used in these demos provide easy-to-use blocks that can be used to create engaging classroom activities for beginners. At the same time, since the libraries are themselves written in MicroBlocks, they can be viewed and modified by users who wish to learn more about digital sound processing.
This session was recorded live on 5 December 2020 at micro:bit LIVE 2020 virtual.
