So much to love this new G9II. Glad to see a new 25mp sensor and a hand held 100mp hi res mode. I just hope they have improved the sensitivity of the front shutter button. On my G9 it's really sensitive when using front button to focus as I've many shots unintentionally taken when I wanted to focus instead of take the photo. Great review as always.

I have the G9. Any time I thought of going FF I’d be out on a shoot and marvel I could fit my entire TV studio into a very small backpack. I would stop thinking about FF. I will be upgrading.

Whaaattt @02:02 “Hunchback looking thing…” My G9 and me take offense! Wow. 😮🙄😠😂 Seriously, always enjoy your insight and your Photos and Videos. This is not what I was expecting, but I can appreciate the fact that Panasonic chose a more cost efficient way with basically a repurposed S5II body, with a M43 sensor. All users of M43 should be grateful; This shows Panasonic is committed to this format still. I’m just not sure how the market will respond. It would be a hard sell for anyone new to M43. More appeal to those with many lenses in M43. Stay safe and well!

I would drop th,e word, "yet" from the title. The new Panasonic offers amazing features for the higher end photographers and suggests that future lower end cameras will offer some of the improvements. By nature of the size and weight of the lenses, M4/3s offers a weight advantage over larger sensor cameras. There is no "one size fits all" camera and each camera system offers advantages and disadvantages.

With release of S5II and S5IIx there was a lot of rumours that M43 will not be updated and Lumix will concentrate on full frame systems now ... that's why I said 'yet' in the title. I'm all up for M43 and this camera is really amazing

Thank you for this video. I own the G9 and don’t plan on upgrading. The G9ii is a significant improvement over the G9. The truth is I haven’t outgrown the G9 so for the present I will continue with the G9. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

G9 2 does NOT overheat fast. Richard wong tested it, its better than most full frame cameras if it comes to overheating. It can record 4k60 for hours and even 4k 120 is over 20 minutes without overheating

I only had a camera for few hours this time so I had no chance to test it yet but Lumix have told me that 4k 120 will record for only 5-10 min in a hot climate. Also many other cameras better prepared for filming can overheat. Only long term testing and real world usage will show how it really performs. Love Richard's reviews.

@@PavSZ i saw a test with richard wong he recorded 23 minutes in 4k120 and even if it was 10 minutes it would be enogh for me as i use 120 for short sequences only. 4k 60 can be recorded for hours without overheating. Panasonic is very conservative with guaranteed runtimes. For pro shoots in rough weather conditions gh6 will be better tough. I do boudoir videos and photos in controlled envirement its always 4k60 and a bit 120, g9 seens to be perfect for my workflow. I considered the s5 but the crop in 4k60 is bad if you shoot in 60 all the time and it has no 120 at all.

To me as a gh5 user the g9 2 more or less is what i wished the gh6 to be. It has the same video specs but the new af system which mean i will buy it

Great video as ever, Pav. Great camera to carry while hiking. Lumix video pedigree is an addin advantage. Funny that Ulanzi is jumping on the opportunity provided by" some camera manufacturers' " inability to do a proper mechanical design. 😂

HDMI? there is no RAW out but all other formats are possible. You can also record directly to SSD via USBC. All formats apart from 4k120p, unless you power the camera from the mains. I have a second video coming out next week. I have done a lot of testing and it did extremely well in high heat

@@PavSZ understood! But usually if there is no RAW out that just means that HDMI is capped at 4K 60p, which makes perfect sense for this camera. And if that is the case I'm fine, since I plan on recording 4K 60p to ProRes LT in a 4:2:2 color space, which is just not possible via USB-C (the LT compression, I mean)

the size of the sensor next to the full frame is 'micro' but also the 2x magnification, that's why m43 cameras are great for wildlife and micro photography. You get bigger reach with zoom lenses

@@PavSZ I know. I’m a G80/85 and PanaLeica 100-400mm owner and I know I can’t get that reach in such a compact package with any other format. My problem that I don’t see another MFT body the same size as my G80/85 ever happening. If my G80/85 died tomorrow, I’d be looking for another or G90/95. If I had the money, I’d go S line FF or just use a smart phone now I don’t travel much anymore.

Micro 4/3 gets a bad rap. I've always found using my Olympus a more enjoyable experience than my APS-C Canon's and Nikon's and full frame is overkill for most of my needs. It's far superior with video thanks to the in-camera stabilization and with a decent prime lens it's just as good in photography.

Unfortunately M43 i ALMOST dead and it will be dead in a few years imo. Reason is, today you can buy a FF camera with similair great features that is smaller and in the same price range of this G9 ii - I think Panasonic should stick only to their GH series and then the GX series. The GH series for film makers and the GX series for those who like the M43 for its compactness. This G series camera makes no sense (unless youre a wildlife photographer). Its bigger than many FF cameras and in the same price range. Am I going to buy it? Only if the price comes down significantly or second hand. And thats only because I am already invested in M43 thirds ecosystem. But this will not make anybody switch systems. Although its a great camera no doubt, it makes no sense for a M43 camera (unless you shoot wildlife). M43 system made sense when the only FF cameras around were big, heavy and over priced DSLRs. Today its another story though.

that's what I thought until I have tried G9II with Leica 100-400mm and 2x converter. The whole set-up was very small in comparison to anything even remotely close in full frame terms. The cameras might not be smaller but lenses still are and you get 2x crop for that extra reach. There is very loyal m43 following and the system is not going anywhere yet. This camera is a proof

Very nice camera probably nobody is going to buy. For me M43 never appealed over APSC. I would choose one gen older full frame cameras for the same price and size. This body should have APSC sensor. I feel M43 should be used for fixed lens compact cameras with zoom and prime lenses.

m43 has never appealed to me before either and now I want this camera. It's a beast and it will be very popular for sure. M43 offers 2x crop factor making lenses like 400mm a massive 800mm and 1600mm with a teleconverter. That's why they are so still so popular with many photographers.
