You need instant set spray for the CA glue it will make your life much easier. You can use corn starch and drench it with CA to add gusset strength to joints as well. I've built so many balsa airplanes I can't count but I have never got as much done in 23 min as you in this video. Never a boat yet though, just bought my first boat coming Monday got the UL-19 and I think I already want another like the Veles 29"
Hay B so we're subscribed to your channel...ok...so how do I get ahold of you to get the plans for the cute little boat...and pay you..ex..just asking..thanks man..
Dr jet said he is covering his boat with monocote plastic film, like rc airplanes use, that's the reason for the bracing. Yours covered with wood should be just fine. I always look forward to your videos, in fact my friend and I are joining the challenge because of them. Keep it up!!
Oh Yeah!! More contestants! This is going to be a HOOT! I can't wait to see the results. And for the record: I'm already thinking of the next Challenge! The solid balsa sheet sides as you have done adds all the same shear strength of the intricate cross-bracing in my build. Had I built it with balsa sides, I would have omitted the bracing. Bart is 100% correct in his analysis.
Man, that little rigger looks killer! You should sell plans! I'm curious to find out what prop you plan to use. I'm thinking you're gonna need a prop in the 20 to 24mm size range, which is going to be tough to find. Octura makes a 27 which is the smallest I've seen, but I bet you can find plastic props on eBay in the correct size. That little motor doesn't have much torque so it's gonna be a Bunsen burner without water cooling. These are all challenges when building a custom boat, but the difficulty rises as the hull size gets smaller. That's what makes this challenge so cool. I'm just wondering how the contestants will submit their results since all the boats will be run in different ponds, lakes or pools. I can't wait to see how she does in the water. Thanks for keeping us in the loop! Edit: I guess I should have waited to the end of the video to post a comment. Of course Big "B" will make his own prop!! Props to you my friend (pun intended).
Lol. "Props to you!" I like that. 👍 yea the prop I made Is a little big and to "pitchy" 1st attempt lol. Hopefully the next one turns out a little better. Thanks for watching IRONCLAD RC
Hey Big B, yeah was going to ask about plans too. Would love to build a rigger. Yours looks nice with the sponson height and off sets. Cant wait to see how it runs. But yes, understand you have to do the R and D yet before its worthy of release to us eager beaver, Ironclad fan club members, man!!!
Ok NOW this is interesting!! Good luck. A micro rigger is the best. 😊 The micro rigger will easily make the challanges. Just don't over prop it. You have the winning boat. 😊 Name it "Micro Clad"
@@IRONCLADRC Dr. Jet's Monokote Micro Rigger will kick everybody's posterior. Big B's might be "Micro-CLADDED", but my entry is "Jetted!" I think I have an angle on the motor/prop/battery system that will run cool and fast for a LOOOONG time (Well, long enough to complete the Challenge).........
@@IRONCLADRC I'm going to go you one better. I have a roll of laminating film. Half the weight of MonoKote, all the strength of MonoKote and 100% clear. My entry will look like a bunch of floating sticks............. Bwahaaahaaahaaaaahaaaa (Insert photo of Dr. Evil with pinky finger in hsl lip here)............
Curious as to why you would want it so tiny. I got a kit and built it over two days. The kit wasn't more than 18 inches. Left me room to do my own thing. It's very cool what you are doing.
He should call it the "Little Choker" 'cause I'm gonna kick his butt....... Bwaaahaaaaahaaaa (insert photo of Dr. Evil with pinky finger in his lips here).....
