I like that you are using my driveshaft/pushrod arrangement. It's light, simple, water-tight, and easy to make. I also like the coupler work-around that you did. Those little motors will probably work quite well with just a friction fit. Yes, I have 2mm reamers and could have made the right couplers, but.......... One of my goals in the RC boating world is to create a spec "Class" of cheap RC boats to build and race where everybody would use similar power systems. This means building and driving skills will be important too. There's just so much more pride and ingenuity when everything is homemade. My next challenge will be along those lines, but the idea of a 1/8 SCALE boat that is only 12" long has a lot going for it.

Suggestion … the little wire management thing can be had at Lowes or Home Depot in the electrical department. I think they will be a little bigger, but same design. I use the for all sorts of stuff. Very cool little boat. I’m from Jacksonville, FL where the St. John’s River runs thru the city. When I was a kid … long ago! … there were races with that style boat. Nice job!

may i sudjest a hair dryer to heat the colet up so it will go on e z . and for your keel drill the holes inside the sponson on the floor and the bolts flush mount. your horisontel aluminium wont be in the water . the sponsons will hold it up and out of the water. great little boat ,

That handmade hardware is lovely! In case the rudder bracket bends, put another bracket on it from the other side (have 2 L brackets back to back, essencially make a T bracket) and screw them together. The longer it is the more we learn so quit saying sorry 😁 That build is amazing Big B, everything totally custom made and looking forward to seeing how she runs on the big pond. I feel you with the 2mm motor shaft coupling problem. I had exactly the same issue with a little scale Riva-type boat I built. Different in the sense that I was running a 3.18 flex cable, and 3.18 shaft to cable collets are easy to get. So I got hold of some 2mm ID x 4mm OD brass tube, loctited that to the motor shaft, then did something crazy. Put the motor in the vice, spooled it up to about half speed, and held one of my micro diamond files against the shaft, filed the brass tube down until it fit snuggly into the 3.18mm collet. Boooom! And it worked! Never had any issues with it at all 😄

I think it's time you step up to the 152vo class of boat. They have crazy detail and use outboards on 2 or 3s. I built some 152vo boats from scratch using original plans and run offshore electrics outboard.

Honestly I think you could use the set up that's in the lucas oil proboat with the fake outboard. Cool build,. My last build didn't turn out the way I wanted now got to try fix,or scrap it maybe I'll send it to you for a rebuild,for a fee or you keep it, it's the mini storm v haul from ose. i am the person that had the cutoff boat and all the batteries are good all cells on all batteries so and today i found out that the bout only cuts off when full throttle and doesn't at half
