From my recent experience, CO2 resurfacing is not advisable if you have darker skin color (Fitzpatrick scale of 3 and above). I've had CO2 laser resurfacing done on a small scar two months ago and I ended with hyperpigmentation on that area even though I am caucasian with grey eyes. CO2 lasers from what I've learned are notorious for their hyperpigmentation side effects because they emit in the UV spectrum.
