Today I review my latest and greatest toy!! This fishing rod is used to slow pitch jig for big fish on or near the bottom. The reel I have chosen is the Maxel Hybrid 20 left and the rod is the Diawa Harrier 6'6". Overall this a great combo and it provides a extremely light setup while still being capable to bring in big fish.

u need to watch a rigging video as you need to go though the solid ring on the hook side and take the jig off with the split ring

Thanks for the comment does the split ring system offer a performance benefit?

@@lethallure6260I'm sure you know by now, but if not yes it does. If your jig breaks you will still have a set of assist hooks in the fish.

@@bringit3164 thank you for the reply. I have a quick question for you. Have you ever actually had a jig break so bad that it broke that look at the top? Just curious I’ve heard people say that but I haven’t had it break so I was just wondering if someone has had that happen?

@@lethallure6260 I have, but granted it has been on older jigs. New jigs aren't immune to defects btw. The bigger picture is to eliminate fail points. Without using a swivel and solid ring the wont preform as it was meant to do slowpitch jigging. Sure you will catch fish doing it your way, but trust me your just slow jigging not slowpitch jigging. There is a difference 😊.

@@bringit3164 awesome thanks appreciate it I was just wondering if it was the same “stereotypical knowledge” that we often take as facts but really isn’t. I hope you get what I mean by that but if someone actually had it fail then it’s a good tactic. I’ll make the switch if I can remember to do so
