I just received my mm2 this afternoon, thanks for one of the best demonstrations I have heard of its power. So much more inspiring to watch than someone's hands too.
Ah thanks Bert. It's a brilliant synth that punches way above its weight (literally!) Hope they give you lots of inspiration - I feel there's much more in there.
Ah thanks v much Jeremy. Yes I programmed mod wheel stuff and the front panel knob. Many sounds include velocity/aftertouch too. The other great thing about the Micromonsta is you can assign 4 front panel knobs to modulate useful destinations. I went through and tried to think of the best ones. Best wishes.
Hi m8! Yes my demo makes it sound like it's a bright synth. In fact it's mostly the opposite, it can get really fat! The drive parameter has a big influence on the tone of the synth. Thanks!
@@Soundsauca Man i just realised you have mentioned me in this video. Thank you this means so much to me and i am glad to be that person maybe sometimes a tiny little bit of stubborn :)
@@julko28hey m8! you're welcome. I didn't say anything because I didn't want it to be a big thing. But yes, you helped more than you know:) Take it easy man!
Ah thanks a lot Eric! I really appreciate that. It's such a versatile machine. I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do. The only issue for people is getting hold of one;)!
Just purchased these today and wow they are fantastic and well worth the price!!! So many wonderful sounds here! One note: I am using a macbook and Sysex librarian, but if you are using a USB hub (because newer macs don’t have USB-A ports), the files would not transfer - as soon as I used an older mac and no usb hub, the sysex file played and completed just fine! Hope this helps others that may have trouble transferring!!!
Thank you very much! I’m really glad that you like them. And thanks for the heads up wrt the USB hub. Yes sometimes they can cause trouble. I use a Caldigit one and touch wood haven’t had an issue but I know it happens. All the best 👍
Wow, what a great demo of this very impressive synth. The size, layout, and screen on the Micromonsta 2 remind me of my Mutable Instruments Shruthi which is another totally underrated synth. Thanks to your demo, I am definitely getting a Micromonsta 2 as soon as one becomes available.
Glad you like it! I’ve not tried the Shruthi but yes the layout is quite familiar. It is hard not to like the Micromonsta 2 - I saw some comparisons with the Blofeld the other day. Totally different sounding synths. MM2 is instantly vintage in tone but can get esoteric if you wish. Good luck getting one, I know it’s not easy. Best, Michael👍
I bought one off ebay in mint condition. I think the guy made a little profit but not loads. VAT and import duties , handling charge and postage to consider after the initial price of the synth. Ive used it already but im not familiar with it. This demo make me feel please that pulled the trigger. I was on the e~mail waiting list but I never heard from the company fot the best part of a year now. So nice !
Yes they're quite hard to get aren't they. I managed to get one quite early on as I had my eye on the Micromonsta 1 before but missed it. Really glad you like it, great synth!
@@Soundsauca MM1 is the smoother/safer of the two since it doesn't do filter FM nor heavily saturated stuff. Filter is very safe-sounding like on a Juno (same filter is in MM2 when you use the cleanest mode). You can load your own WTs in MM1, not in MM2, and IIRC some modulation and arp capabilities are different. Oh and MM1 has a friggin power switch! Really missing that on MM2 :(
@@EvilDragon666 Lol re: power switch, I get you. I had to put a USB isolator on mine due to some ground loop thing, but that happens on many devices so I don't hold MM2 at fault. Loading WTs sounds fun.
this is why i can't wait to replace the Hydrasynth with an MM2. just the basic raw sound character is way more in your face whereas the Hydra (imo) just sounds vast and hollow no matter what i program with it (the HS presets say it all)
I think you will be very happy with the MM2. I have a Hydra and I've started programming it quite a few times. Thing is it can do some clever stuff, but for me (like you) I'm not 100% with the character. MM2 has that in spades.
@@Soundsauca I know it has a lot of fans and I did start to like it more once I started programming my own patches. It’s great for sound design stuff. I would probably be more forgiving if it was multi-timbrel
10 out of 10 on the sounds. Great visuals too. I don’t own the MM2 just the first one. Would love to hear you do a patch bank for the MM or for access virus ti.
Hi Fabio. It’s in the description but sometimes it gets lost in the scroll!! Here you go: www.soundsauca.com/sounds/audiothingies-micromonsta-2-mojo-soundset Thanks 😊
Ah great! yes I see they have some new LCDs in the latest batch, that's probably the only thing that needed improvement. Thank you for your support, really is appreciated. Why Mojo? Well I lost it (my Mojo I mean:) I went through a time where I just didn't seem to click with synths and found I was loosing my way. No reason apart from that. I'm still here though and things are in the (albeit long) pipeline.
Thanks very much for your kind words! No, I didn’t use any of those. It really does sound that good out the box 📦. I fade the sounds in/out but that’s mainly to keep a flow as I like to tell a story if I can. Best bang for buck in a synth atm imho 👍
Ou my gush! 👍 You may be crazy on making music to do So Big Lush Space sounds 🎶They are so great! Did you use some external effects, tools to do these sounds?
Hello! I think it’s 4 or 500. How it works is that 1-300 are normal slots. The remainder have an A an B slot. IIRC these can be used like any other. However, yes! Those slots allow for combi mode with 2 sounds! I confess I didn’t use those, purely as many of my sounds use unison or are pads. It’s totally possible though. Hope that helps 👍
Je pense que ses 400. 1-200 sont des emplacements de patch unique. Et je pense que 201-300 sont des machines à sous combinées. J'espère que Google Translate a fonctionné ! Cordialement.
I have responded to you via email and refunded your purchase. There is no nightmare. I would happily work through your issue with you but I think that's academic now. The synth patches in this set are platform agnostic and only work with the Micromonsta 2. The issue is elsewhere.
@@Soundsauca bravo! So I take it there’s A whole world of people out making and selling cool graphics? Being a mere mortal, I would guess it would take me YEARS to tackle a graphics/animation like you do
Hi guys, I have a question I would appreciate some input about. Being a dual polyphonic synthesizer, does that mean you can have one oscillator running pads and the other running arpeggios or melody/bass?
Hi Javier & Mahen. The patches in the set were created in the single slot patch areas. However there is nothing to stop you re-saving them into the dual slot memory locations. Some sounds will fair better than others. For instance, some pads with unison added might only allow for a few notes, whilst others may be fine. I haven't gone through to check which ones use more voices but it's perfectly possible to layer/split them I think. As usual, the normal caveats about polyphony would apply. Hope this helps but if you need any more clarification please let me know! Cheers.
Would you consider getting a Deepmind 12? I found the GEOsynths patches surprised me a lot with what it could actually do and it has a nice natural sound to it. Check out patch "7th Bells" @ 22:21 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SX9erXC_FZc.html
Sorry! your message got caught in YT spam for some reason. I'm always considering many synths. Yes the DM is a great synth from what I hear. The FX engine is like a synth in itself. No promises but you never know!
Hi there. The Micromonsta 2 by default has a "saturated" sound. It's' in the filters. It doesn't have to be like that - if the oscillator level going into the filter is turned down it sounds more transparent. It's all how you program it.
@@Soundsauca This may be true, but for some reason the sound is bad everywhere. For example, Take 5 or Trigon 6 from Sequetial has good sound everywhere. Why is that ?
Hi Bert. Thanks very much. There's a pdf included in the download that walks you through the process. I've just mailed you so hope you get that and I'll be happy to assist.
@@Soundsauca I have made a template for my Novation SL 49 MK3. So now I have the Filter Cutoff Resonance etc also as rotary controls. Works like a charm!
There are some similarities. It has a "sound". I'd say it's slightly more rigid in it's timbre (not necessarily a bad thing). It's certainly more portable:)
