Ok here it is. Tidal Gardens is probably the best source of coral care information, but a lot of this stuff can be found elsewhere online (not as detailed or from a veteran POV, but it’s out there) However when you combine the amazing information with the killer cinematography this channel stands heads above the others. Truly the best reef aquarium channel on the Internet

Now I know why I've never been able to keep acans or blastos. I was always under the assumption that low light was in the 100-150 par range.

I have a little two head blasto I got a month or two ago. One head is shaded much more than the other. Take a guess which head looks best haha. Waiting for my monti to keep growing out and shade the other too and I expect both will look great in time.

Hi Than, I always appreciate the detail into species I.D. that you provide on this channel. I'm sure you get reliable information but I was able to find the publication (Arrigoni et al. 2016) that you mention. If you have not read it I would be happy to send it to you. Jacob

Can you tell us about your video photography here? What lighting is being used for the corals? What camera/lens? And what type of setup are the corals placed in to provide such a background as well as polyp extension? Thank you.

All my acans did a polyp bailout what can be the cause of this? Only my acans hammers and scolys have died everything else is fine, and my parameters have been stable just a high level of antimony has been reported.

I couldn't figure out what happened to my Acan, since all my other corals are thriving. Makes sense that my peppermint shrimp ate it.. Seeing as he did such a great job with all the aptaisia. Really sucks :(

Than, 4 years ago you did a video on your friend Will's mixed reef tank and you shared some really fascinating stuff about his carbon dosing system, and how his corals are probably getting an important food source by the bacterial blooms added carbon creates, before those bacteria get skimmed out. Did you ever do your own experimentation with carbon dosing, and do you have anything new to report on what you've learned? Very interested in this topic and would love your take on it.

Do you have tips on how to setup a mother colony for continue fragging? They grow better on a flag surface, right? But when fragging, I will have to cut the base rock too, then the rest of the colony won't be flag anymore, and they don't seem to like to grow down the edge. Any good tip around this?

I love you and most importantly love your coral spot lights. Your voice is perfect for such videos and they are crazy jam packed with information and you personally are to thank for most of the knowledge in corals like different types in at least for the most part being able to identify at lfs as well as knowing a pretty good bit about them. Thank you so much for your videos. They have really sped up my growth over the past year of being in the salt hobby. ❤️✌🏼

wild lords have very small polyps, but grow over time in an aquarium if fed well.

I always wondered what my coral is, at first its too fluffy to be favia or favities, and its not that fluffy for it to be an acan.

Great video! For the few lords I have in my LPS dominated tank, feeding them every other day makes them very happy. If I miss a feeding or two they stop putting out their tentacles and don't open up as much. For feeding I smash up some pellet LPS food and melt in a cube of mysis shrimp, and give a little bit per head, (One to two shrimp). The pellet 'dust' from smashing up the pellets is just to make sure they are getting all the nutrients they need. They gobble it all up in a hurry, the crazy part is they will attempt to eat EVERYTING put on them, and if they eat to much they will spit everything back into the water column.. Remember a little bit of food every other day goes a long ways for these guys.

I always enjoy the information and videography in your videos. I was wondering in a mixed reef tank if these would be candidates for the “shaded “ areas in my tank from the rock scapes. I gave many areas like this that could use some interest. With a Maxspect powerhead even the lower portion has a bit of flow but not too much.

In the name of science. I have made a conscious effort to call acans, micromussa. But it's going to be extremely difficult to call scolys....homophyllia. Would they even know what I was referring to? Excellent coral showcase!
