Often overlooked is the fact that this guy was a super popular toy on Japan in 1975 on up. He was reissued, remolded, etc. He was so popular other heroic toys nicked his color scheme, like Diaclone Convoy and Machine Robo Bike Robo. That's right: Optimus Prime and Cy-Kill are colored after him!
I learned about making electric motors by taking my apart. A few year after that my parents bought me an erector set. That's when I discovered the usefulness of a screwdriver that I could have used to take apart biotron without breaking it.
I remember this toy it was big in my country Honduras during the early 80s, I wanted one so bad but it was really expensive. Only rich kids could afford it. I remember seeing tv comercials about it.
Yup, I still have my red-white-blue Biotron, standing on a high shelf, bought in the mid 1970's by my parents. I'm in my early 50's now, heh. Have not tried to turn it on in decades. Not sure if the treads will break or what. You can try replacing the treads with wide rubber bands at the right loop length. You will have to unscrew the wheel mounts though. Cheap, worth a try, as long as you know how to put the wheel mount back. Or maybe find something in a toy hobby shop or home construction store that might work as treads. The only other Micronaut that I know I still have is that Pharoid guy with the sarcophagus. Good times, I miss the days gone by.
Had one as a kid, now as an adult this is the toy I miss the most. Almost impossible to find, and unfortunately they’re never in very good condition when you do find one
Oh man! The nostalgia. I had a Biotron when I was a kid, I loved it. There were some little white wheels that pegged into the back holes too, do you have those? It allowed you to make more vehicles. Thanks for this awesome trip down memory lane. 😊❤
I Love Biotron - had one when I was a kid and just bought one on eBay. It's missing the transparent chest piece. Doesn anyone know where I could find an STL file to 3D print this piece? Thanks!
