I ditched rogaine a year ago after blistering repeatedly. I use a stiff scalp brush with carbonic acid shampoo 2x weekly, letting it set for 5 minutes. I then use an electric needle at 1.75mm every 2 weeks. I also take 1 Large biotin dose per week. I am very happy with color returning, hair thickness and even the appearance of lots of additional sprouting follicles. I can actually run my hand through my hair now! 🎉

Ahh, I feel strongly that microneedling helps. The topical Minoxidil just gets into the scalp better, and you can feel it. Was just using my Hairliciously microneedling device last night. I'm not stopping it because it works.
@matthewmosier8439

It seems to. I only microneedle once a week, but it shows good results. You can call me crazy, but I also brew up a mug of green tea once or twice a day and after it cools down a little, I pour it over my scalp and dry the edges so it isn't messy. The caffine is good for hair and after just a week of doing it I could see thickening of the individual hairs. Just tgought I'd pass that along in case somebody else wants to try it. Doing it before bed makes it easy because there's plenty of time before having to leave the house for it to dry.

@@matthewmosier8439 Interesting idea. I may read up on that....and see what the deal is. I drink green tea, and I know it's good for oral health, and I look a little better after a few days of drinking it. I have had some success with Oral Minoxidil. Oral Minoxidil pretty much thickens up all the hair on your body. My beard, eyebrow, and eyelash thicknesses are noticeable. I imagine it's thickening up the hair on my scalp as well. But I for sure feel like the Microneedling helps, you can kinda feel it. But thanks for the heads up on the green tea. I'm going to read up what I can on that.

Another brill video; thanks Hairliciously! Question for you; lots of people on Tressless are saying that once a week at 1.5mm is too much and could risk scarring - how come you still recommend once weekly over something less aggressive e.g. twice monthly? (I was doing 1.5mm once weekly but now planning to shift to 1.5mm every other week and 0.5mm on the 'gap weeks' - kinda aiming for reduced chance of scarring but increased topical absorption on the off-weeks. Any chance I could get your input and thoughts on that?)

I’ve got minor thinning on the crown area.. 42yr old. I’ve tried microneedling at 1.5 and 1.0 with weekly, fortnightly and monthly. Unfortunately it has done nothing to increase density or follicles. But I am aware that this would back up that it is only effective if used with topical Minoxidil or Finasteride. So in my experience, microneedling alone, doesn’t do anything noticeable to hair.

I really think that all microneedling does is improve absorbtion of topicals, and that’s why you really only see improvement with conjunction of treatments and not alone. Me personally will not be using it because overtime it could make it harder to perform a hair transplant because the skin gets scar tissue.

Skin irritation is a sign of scalp rejuvenation because propelyne glycol has exfoliate effect that removes dead skin cells and also recreate keratosis which is crucial for hair growth. Same thing with redness and itchiness. So it is actually good that any of these conditions is working in process for regrowth. Therefore you need to hang out and continue until irritation/redness goes away. These conditions (sides) happened to me while I still continued and irritation, redness & itchiness eventually stopped on its own

The videos I've seen recommend doing microneedling once a week at a MAXIMUM. Once every 2 weeks also seems to work. Also, the ideal penetration length seems to be between 0.5 and 1mm. @@WastedPo the problem is all the hair's active components are within the dermis, particularly the lower (reticular) dermis .. so you gotta get the stimulation at least close to there ... the epidermis alone is over 1 mm thick on scalp. I used minoxidil from ages 15-18, stopped it, then started again age 30-42, stopped it, and saw continued hair loss over the next 5 years, while I was figuring out my next treatment. My point is depending on how long the subjects were on other treatments it can take a long time much longer than 4 months (in my case years) to discontinue those treatments and get them out of your system before trying something else, without taking into consideration the expected hair loss from stopping said treatments. This study sound very poorly conducted and quite frankly irresponsible to have released it.

The best hair growth is eating foods high in B-vitamins biotin especially and using natural things on the hair like contains less parabens in shampoo and conditioning, maybe try rosemary oil on hair, argan oil, avocado oil, carot seed oil, gently massage with fingertips into scalp very gently , and minoxadil 5% as I have heard. Excersie regulkarily cardio to allow more oxygen to flow through body whist eating foods high in biotin, and even taking b-vitamin biotin supplement for 12 months helped me. Won't see a different for at least 12-16 months though with supplements.

@@Herbie11 on the contrary natural foods do work, but the problem is the gut lining, if your gut has holes in it, and or have problem with your gut, anything that goes in your gut the foods minerals and vitamins get absorbed into your body, not all the foods vitamins and minerals get absorbed and if you have a gut problem you will get even less minerals and vitamins, the problem lies with getting enough of those B-vitamin and Biotin nutrients into the blood stream to be carried to your hair folicules. If you think it does not work , it's because your own body is not absorbing enough of biotin that is made, and it doesn't end up enough to grow hair at the end of it. Vitamins and minerals supplements are useful but only in their natural form, otherwise it will damage kidneys unnecessarily. Also it takes 12 months minimum and you have to stay away from sugar that causes problems and prevents the body from truly absorbing all your nutrients thats why it is better on a vegan/keto or animal protein mix with crusiferous vegetables and 10 cups of veggies per day, eggs are a good source of all vitamins and minerals as well as protein and carotene, whist also it helps to lower cholesterol if keeping to a good exercise healthy routine.

In fact food from the gut not all 100% of nutrients are absorbed into the body, the rest just goes into the intestine and you visit the toilet you know what comes after that. Try a biotin/collagen preferably organic supplement combo every day and perhaps try intermittent fasting, fasting can give benefits that may correct some biological issues. Biotin supplements take 12months to notice a difference in hair thickness and growth.

My experience is that topical stuff won't generally hurt to use. I'd recommend Keeps or some such stuff. Microneedling works, but you have to remove the shiny layer of scar tissue that forms on a balding scalp (you can tell men who have shaved their heads vs. bald precisely because of the shiny look of scar tissue on a bald scalp) Mine took maybe two or more months of once a week microneedling before that layer was gone and the hairs could be stimulated by the microneedling. If you don't use a chemical at least use Vitamin E oil occasionally to help your scalp heal from microneedling. I also use green tea applied to my scalp to get the caffine to the hair. Believe it or not it works quite well. The hairs themselves thicken up.

@@jt777TDon't recommend a derma roller. There's a maybe $100 pen on A mazon that I use that works great. I run it over areas where the number of hairs is thinner with no real problem. I like to alternate the number of needles in the tip I use from a lot to very few. Once a week at 1.5 works great for me. Hairs regrow (as soon as you get rid of the layer of scar tissue that's on the balding areas. That's argued by some as one of the reasons for the balding to begin with and for me it took maybe 2 or three months to get that layer removed) Once the scar tissue is removed, the hair can grow back as you microneedle That said, massaging your scalp is also extremely helpful, so make sure to do that regularly.

The logic behind it is that in a small enough wound, damage will be minimal, but at the same time will be compensated by triggering a healing response that will also stimulate(“overheal”) the hair that used to be there before being damaged by alopecia. Not the same mechanism but a roughly similar logic to exercise, when you lift weights you damage your muscles, but not too much, so they grow back stronger.
