I've tried this mic and overall I would say it is not bad but.... It doesn't pick up the bass properly - especially the low end but it also attenuates lower mid-bass as well... I think 135 degrees mode represents better soundstage in my room minus shortcomings I described above...
Thank You 🙏 Interesting you mention that. I also found the bass is a smidgen leaner with this microphone...compared to the inbuilt iPhone microphone. However, the unintended consequence of this is that with large diaphragm headphones the shure MV88+ is able to keep the bass intact at loud listening levels. The iPhone recording can sometimes (depending on the track) saturate the headphone at louder volumes...hence the note in all of my videos to Adjust the volume 😊 The 90 degrees seems to capture the bass and the tonal density a bit better...whereas the 135 degrees captures the soundstage more accurately from the listening position.
@@DynamicAudio In my experience it seems quite difficult task to find a "perfect" mic, especially in this price range... As per phone as a recording device - I think it would be a quite good option if there was a possibility to turn off it's automatic volume adjusting...
@@adzajcom I don't believe there is a way to turn off automatic volume settings on the iPhone. However, it does have the settings to personalise spatial audio for the shape of your ears! I haven't experimented with this though.
