Everyone! Thank you for all of you who made kind and respectful comments. To those who think I was paid to do this... I wasn't. I have never done a pay to advertise content. I sounded like a commercial because I was excited. That was genuine excitement and I thought many of you would be too. I'm sorry if you don't like my presentation of it. But I had fun with it and was excited. I get that LNM does many of the same things for free. But to charge or not is a choice of the creator. No need to disrespect others and their clearly genuine hard work. Please keep the criticism respectful. There's enough nasty negativity without us adding to it on RU-vid.
It's good, but Little Nav Map can achieve the same, and more, and it's free - AND you can with minimum fuss place it on a second monitor. And LNM can access multiplayer aircraft, Vatsim AI, IVAO AI and it does it immaculately.
Little Nav Map is super cluttered, though. There is something to be said about a nicely stuctured clean and to the point presentation that doesn't use the UI guidlines from Windows 3.11 in the 90s. ;)
I agree with some of the other commenters and think that if you have an additional monitor then Little Nav Map is a better use of that extra screen and is free.
I think it should work with any tablet, smartphone, or other PC within your local network. Just replace 127.0.0.1 with your local IP and use it in a browser of remote device, just don’t forget to specify the port after the colon. 127.0.0.1 is not your local IP address, it’s actually a “loopback” pointing to the current computer, the same as “localhost”. The local address is usually in the 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x ranges.
Love your enthusiasm! I really like this application. Been using it for a couple of weeks. However you save me so much time with the detail you packed into this video. Thanks!
It's fantastic, also works perfect in VR. Doing a flight around the world now and having Sky4sim open makes it so much more enjoyable. It also shows points of interest on the map so I'm constantly moving away from my route to check those out. It's brilliant.
This looks great, will buy today. Minor point, but 'airport graveyard' sounds correct to me. If it wasn't we'd have parishoners graveyards rather than church graveyards!
guys, just to put my 2 cents in. this isn't as easy as our host makes it out to be. the pad will not import the navdata and their support team has some really smart remarks to make if you are having trouble, very rude to be exact. don't buy it. stick with little navmap.
Sky4Sim has made an excellent start, particularly the satellite imagery, but many useful map tools are still missing at this point and it seems cumbersome ; in the sim for some things, in a browser for others, major file manipulation required to pull it together. I will check back on this one, but not a buy today for me. From a long time subscriber and big big fan of yours - maybe a little more balance between the highlights and what is still missing? I think it’s time I made a donation to Little Navmap. Alexander Barthel does deserve to get paid for his work, which I have been using for every flight for free.
Encountering problems. In some instances, MSFS does not import .pln files made in sky4sim. Other issues: if you click on the pad you no longer have control of your flight; you have to click on the fs2020 window to activate your controls again. This is a good attempt and a useful app but I feel it's another pay-for-beta-ware offering in a community that already has too much of it.
did you know that if you save the flight plan you have created in sky4sim, the pln file can then be imported straight into MSFS/world map screen to use for the flight.
So far, I'm loving the possibilities of this app. And have had no issues running other things on top of flightsim. But wow, the in game map is so bloody slow loading, even in 2d. In VR, its pretty much unusable.
In theory, as you can access it from a local browser, you should be able to access it from a mobile device using your PCs IP address using a mobile browser. I tried it. It connects ok. But doesn't work very well at all in any browser I tried. Same issue from a remote PC too. Not sure why that issue occurs. If that is fixed, it would acheive what you are after.
@@Bellamycraft yeah I know. Not sure why I was getting a different result. The developer said the same thing which had me confused last night before the video since it is just hosting a web page. Hmmn I'll try again later. Thanks Bellamy!
It's just missing a couple of features from FSkneeboard: the ability to teleport anywhere, and a constantly moving line between your aircraft and the next waypoint. Also, it has one drawback the same as FSkneeboard: with the app active in sim, EVEN WHEN HIDDEN, you can't click any buttons/switches that are behind it (this is true in VR, but I think in 2D too). So do not place it somewhere that it covers anything you want to click in cockpit. I assume this is a sim issue and not something the app devs can get around? Lastly, It would be great if you could click on the map and select set as departure or arrival. All in all though, it's a great app.
Am I doing something wrong.. paid did/d program added need file.. entered my info for registration and placed program in community folder.. still when I try to access it in MSFS 2020 I see the icon at the top but when clicking on it all I get is a blank screen.. what did I miss in the setup
HELP NEEDED PLEASE. followed the installation guide to the letter and the pad folder after install is in my community folder but in the cockpit on the toolbar sky4sim does not show up? am i missing something? the server is showing as running and sim connect is also running? this has got me totally stumped...Please Help
You know I expected that MSFS would have a similar VFR flight planner built in (note I have held off buying the FS2020 - was flying FSX for a decade with lots of add ons but been using other flight sims in the last 5/6 yrs)
Great video, but as so many of your videos sooooooo disorganized, unprepared and recorded on the fly. But then again… YOU are the one making the video, and I’m not so I do thank you for making this video! :-)
Thanks, just tryed that, it works well on my android tab. I figured out that some functionalities don't work with Firefox but no issues with chrome and opera at all. Can't tell if it works on IPad using safari but with other browser it should work. I'm mainly using it in VR and to be honest don't having to removed headset to see lnm info or charts is priceless and is worth its price.
@@OverkillSimulations Did not try it but being a PC pro IT'er I was thinking that should work while watching your video... I still have to test it but I am a VR only fly guy so don't need it.
The complete application works within the sim itself not on a second monitor. Make it run in a web browser is just an option. The main goal of this application is to have everything available without minimising your sim or watching another screen.
They (the developers) still have to solve database reading issues that limit the amount of information about the ILS in several airports. I wrote them several e-mails and after one or two exchanges, no more answers
The problem of missing IlS is when you have 3rd party airports as addon which don't contains correct IlS information. If your scenery don't contains ILS information the navdata reader will not gather them. I had this issue with some payware scenery I have but some other are correct. Just cut them out of community before doing your navdata update and the database will then gather MSFS ILS info instead of the 3rd party broken ones.
@@MrMinusCortex Not the case here, as for the purpose of building the database I'm not including any 3rd. party airport (just the default MSFS database and the Navigraph database). The issue is probably more likely related to the Open Source program that the SimPad uses to read the MSFS data, which still has bugs on it
Yep. And 12mins in and he STILL hasn't given an overview of what the App does. He's too concerned with saying 'BOOM' every time he does something. I've had to unsub today because of that. It's too annoying :)
I was was watching this video for 5 min and I still have no clue what this app is used for . Stop rabbling and get to the point! You are just making noise but bring no clarity at all.
Why? People have a right to get paid for their hard work, don't they?? I take it you don't work for free either? And yes I know, not all payware is created equal, but that is why we are watching a review right ;)
@@jvazquez53 Not really. Open Source software, like FBW, is able to source way more talent, have more people working on bugs, more expertise, more convergence of ideas, bigger pull request review cycles, etc. Payware software is usually a handful of people who struggle to release updates, dont get their bugs fixed, and just trying to cash in on their shitty code rather than actually caring about their product.
@@Shasol They have a right to get paid, sure, but the quality is usually worse than open source software, where there are more people to pitch in, more people to review code, etc. and they struggle to keep up with regular releases. Payway makes me sad because it's asking money for software that ends up worse than free software. The Flight Sim community is really the one community where you see mods like this asking for money. It doesn't exist in any other sphere in gaming, or even industry. Linux is 100% open source and free, runs most of the worlds servers. I'm a software engineer, we like to code, we do it for fun, and dont ask for money outside of our working hours, because its a fun hobby to do this stuff if its for something you like. The people who want money for their code, dont get any sense of enjoyment or satisfaction, so they want to be renumerated monetarily. And its for that reason, that they dont really like doing it, that they write worse code.
