Can anyone tell me what pc to buy for sim & VR gaming ? I have the money just waiting to be spent on a great flight sim setup and don’t want to buy anything inferior. I’d appreciate name brands if possible. Thanks.
There are dedicated vr channnel flight sim channels not covering this subscription easily earned I have a varjo aero so no passthrough cameras I actually did something quite similar to this with my web cam and an app called fsdesktop that allows you to display any open window in your vr headset, and I opened up my webcam and pointed it to my controls. I can’t wait till this software is polished and has the green screen feature added with the ability to use any camera that’s going to be a game changer. My only issue is I don’t use the steam version of flight sim .
That's too bad. RealityMixer sadly only works in SteamVR. My hope is that software like this will become more mainstream and support a variety of different cameras and hmds.
I don't own the Steam version of MSFS , but I use SteamVR, via Virtual Desktop on my Quest2. Works amazingly well. Edit: Just heard in his vid, not supported on Quest 2, until external cameras are supported.
I am not sure, but I doubt it. The current HMDs that I know RM is compatible with are Valve Index, HTC Vive (the original Vive), HTC Vive Pro 1 and HTC Vive Pro 2 as well as all Windows Mixed Reality headsets. There are a couple of criteria for it to work: 1. you need to run SteamVR 2. The passthrough cameras on your headset will need to have permission to be accessed by a third party. (Some headsets, like the Quest, does not.) The permission issue may change in the future though when it will support external cameras.
@@jonmabec I'm running MSFS 2020 via SteamVR and Virtual Desktop, but I'm also doubtful that the passthrough cameras can be accessed. I'll do some digging around to see if I can find anyone who's tried it. Thanks for showing this, I hadn't seen it before
The reason Quest is not supported is because it does not allow the cameras to be accessed by a third party. This will change in the future when this app will have support for external webams, making it work with any headset.
