The image resize has saved me a lot of time. Actually found out about PowerToys recently while looking for an easier way to resize pictures without having to open the file every time.
My favorite tool! I don't use ALL its features, but I constantly use: Always on Top, FancyZones, Find My Mouse, Mouse Highlighter, sometimes PowerToys Run.
you can change the settings for "shortcuts" to show if you hold down the windows key... so it's actually VERY useful, instead of trying to remember all the strange windows key combos
Glad they re-released this tool set. I used it back in the day and I will definitely check it out. Tweakui was very useful. Sadly, I forgot about until watching this video. Windows would be better if they allow of customization of the UI. On a side note I am surprised that so many people don't know what a tilde is.
FancyZones: the MOST important feature for me is "Move newly created windows to the current active monitor". If I have a fullscreen video in Chrome on my main monitor and open Chrome on the second one, it always opens as a new window there and not as a new tab.
@@CyberCPU Definitely. I always thought being able to customize the OS was one of the fundamental, and core reasons to even use them. I started using Windowblinds, Skinstudio, CursorXP/FX, Objectdock Plus, and a few others years ago during WinXP, and still use them. One of my favorites was DesktopX. It allowed you to design, and package desktop widgets, and animations. Now it's as though MS is actively trying to block customization by excluding more, and more Windows elements from customizing, and I can't understand why.

Note these PowerToys are for both Windows 10 & 11, however, Windows 11 may have a few features not available on Windows 10. More may be added in the future
I discovered a little something called "Rectify11" about a year ago. The newest 3.0 release is a standalone installable package and not a pre-packaged ISO file like Version 2.5 and older. At the time of writing this comment, I am using Rectify11 on Windows 11 Version 22H2, alongside Start11, the newest release of Stardock's start menu replacement program for modern Windows versions.
would you consider doing a review of the tools for windows tablets in Tablet Pro STUDIO? They are unique tools like powertoys tools that you can't find anywhere else. Makes for interesting content and makes using desktop apps much much easier with pen and touch. comparable to keyboard and mouse speeds. Thank you
Awake puts a coffee cup icon in the System Tray and you can right click for different power schemes. I have mine start up with Windows and use it every day.
If only it allowed us to save the Zones. That would make it worth it all. I'm in IT and I use 3 monitors and on my left monitor, I'll have 4 different applications/ tools opened and I simply snap them to a grid by dragging them to their respective corners which can be time consuming as well because it's an extra step on top of having to sign in to them all. What I need is some type of app/ tool that allows me to save the zones so that I don't have to repeatedly open and rearrange the windows. It's so frustrating.
I think SyncToy was also in the old PowerToys release. I used to use it to sync my data between my work PC and my home PC, via a USB drive as the go-between. It is no longer supported for Windows 11. You can still install it, but you also have to install .NET Framework 3.5
Sure would be nice if this allowed you to add Sets-like tabs to your Explorer windows in Windows 10. Absolutely no one was pissed off when they removed that feature. Nope, no one at all.
That's true. Also, if you really want to keep the system awake you can always just go into the sleep properties as well. So it's not a very useful utility.
@@CyberCPU I’m using it on a work laptop that seems to have some overriding policy on it. The company IT dept was nice to bundle powertoys on here since I dont have admin to install it myself.
when you pick the file to download, whats the difference between the arm66.exe and x64.exe files? Which one the the recommend one to download if I really only want to use Fancy Zones? thxs
@@CyberCPU hearing whispers that they will want to stop selling parts to non-enterprise and make everything a big soldered mess even in the windows realm to compete with M1 integrated performance and increase planned obsolescence. If that happens, and the UI is locked… may as well be a mac… (im not saying it will be outlawed or they’ll discontinue it, but the prices will be so high one day..)
@@Ultrajamz That's impossible to do from the windows ecosystem. Apple is able to abuse their users because the ecosystem is tied to the hardware. That's not the case with Windows. On Windows the hardware is independent of the ecosystem. That isn't to say that there's not Windows hardware that's proprietary, there is, but to avoid that you simply avoid that manufacturer. For instance, I typically avoid manufacturers like HP and Acer because their hardware tends to be more proprietary. Dell isn't as bad but they have had instances in the past that they've done stupid things like rearranged the wires on the standard ATX 24 pin power supply so that only their replacement power supply will work. Ultimately with Windows we have the benefit of custom built PCs. That's about as open as you can get.
@@Ultrajamz Who ever is saying this, has no clue what they're talking about. There's so many technical, and legal, hurdles that they'd have to overcome, it's just not viable. Apple can do this level of stupid, only because they control the manufacturing side.
@@CyberCPU I've got a couple dell precisions with the flipped wire PSU's. Blew up a few parts before i found out about that little bit of stupid. It's also a problem with some modular power supplies these days. I remember linus mentioning this in a build video a while back that they couldn't just grab a set of cables off the shelf and go. Had to use the OEM's or risk frying the system, or it not powering on.
Maybe its just my system but the power tools had a significant increase in CPU usage. My system was polling at 30 to 40 percent after install, when normally my system has 1 to 2 percent usage while idle. Not worth the decrease in speed. Like I said could just be my system.

What bums me out the most about Windows 10/11 UI being so locked down is, When Win Vista, and Win 7 came out Microsoft collaborated with Stardock. and had them design both UIs. Stardock are the creators of Windowblinds, CursorXP/FX, Icon Packager, ObjectDock, SkinStudio, and a slew of other UI customization Programs. I think the downhill slope started with Windows "Tiles"... I mean 8. When they decided, "Hey you know what would be awesome? To have desktop PCs look like our crappy phone UI!" Talk about boring, and uninspired. Ever since then Windows has been dog poo for customizing. I'm running Windowblinds on Win 10 right now, and had to reinstall to an earlier version, (20H2) because they dicked with enough things to essentially break even more of what WB can skin. It may sound petulant, and petty, but I refuse to run Win11 just based on these issues alone. I have my system running exactly how I want, with what I have, and disabled all forms of auto updating so I can keep it that way. Newer is not always better. Just ask anyone who's used Photoshop for any length of time, lol.
Even the Start Menu is less customizable in Windows 10/11. I remember in Windows 7 and older there were many customization applications available to change the look of Windows, not so much with Windows 10/11
I have a LG LED Monitor 20M35, its original adapter got damaged. I tried to search offline but I was unsuccessful. Can I use an adapter for a computer monitor that provides the same voltage but a different amperage. The polarity of the adapter is the same as before. New adapter rating - 19V, 1.3A. Old adapter rating - 19V, 0.84A.
Keyboard Manager just made me boil with rage. I think any programmer will agree with me: *fuck the Hungarian layout* and any layout that has the comma on the numpad decimal key. I had to create and install a whole ass separate layout to be able to use it properly when I had Windows. I would've loved to just remap the single key. I was ready to go through the same thing on Manjaro, but it has the *correct* layout out of the box.
