Back before Discord was the big voice chat for gaming, we had Ventrilo. The same thing would happen if you typed in "soi" into the text-to-voice field in Vent. Hearing the reactions in raid chat when someone typed this in and it played super loud to the entire raid never got old.
@@TheYoshi3579 I have two pieces of excellent news. 1) according to KnowYourMeme, the first known instance of the ROFLcopter gif was on March 30th, 2004, and the first description of the "soi" glitch in connection to it was July 10th, 2006. So depending on how you define it, ROFLcopter is between 17 and 19 years old. 2) You can get a helicopter license at 17 years old. Therefore, ROFLcopter is old enough to fly a helicopter. We live in the future.

I discovered that Sam couldn't do the "soi" ages ago while typing random jibberish. Thought it was hilarious, but never put it behind anything. Very clever.
This is a legitimate cultural artefact. The weirdest thing is that we record more data than any civilisation in existence by multiple factors - but due to data management - none of the current information we record will be available to history.
Mnghyes, Quite the pinpoint accurator you are, sir. These kids nowadays can't be satisfied unless they do "pranks" that causes crime and homicide, and the parents already gave up on life and gobble down on the strongest red wine they got. But that's a story to dig deeper in for an another day, Would you like to have some more Mountain Dew, sir?
@@oscarljungberg8821 Voltage my good man if you'd be so kind, and only if you join me in finding out who's the master of 3D Pinball. We still have 10 minutes until the pizza rolls are ready.
@@FrankieAmadeian. Probably because it seems so relatable and personally endearing. Little human quirks are pretty cute because we can relate over the stupidest of things lol.
I walked in on my 3 kids playing with that, they were making it cuss and say other random shit. I could hear them laughing while I was outside mowing the yard so of course I had to investigate. We all laughed for a good hour at making it say random stupid things. At one point I thought we broke it trying to get it to say various Japanese words. (my wife was Japanese) The wife got mad at us, me for not finishing the yard, the kids for not doing their weekend jobs and chased us off. Later on I walked in on her and she was playign with it as well trying her hardest not to laugh out loud. Better times, easy.

Omg, this takes me back lmao man time flies. I used to do Microsoft Sam when I was a kid to annoy my parents and grandparents. Now I'm 34 this year, and I have 3 kids. Enjoy the youth while you have it, kids!
"swah, swah, swah" One of my friends actually did a school report about the benefits of soy milk, and he used Microsoft Sam's voice. He got a C becausxe Sam kept saying "Swah" instead of "Soy".
@@DiegoRuiz1991 Why? Just because it's not actually a milk but rather an oil? Because it's vegan friendly? I don't like if someone wants to dictate what I can eat or not, being it a vegan or not. Don't do the same for THEM, either.
@@CZghostPretty sure soy milk effects your hormones the same way cow milk does. It’s also not particularly environmentally friendly. Cows at pasture (unlike factory farming) support biodiversity, put nitrogen and carbon back into the soil. Soybean farming isn’t bad, it just isn’t a a sustainable replacement for dairy. Nobody wants monocultures of soybeans to replace the cows we know and love. Those are the two main reasons people don’t like soy. Soy milk doesn’t belong to vegans, and while a lot of people do find vegans and vegetarians threatening, I don’t really think this is a case of that. Most people who drink soy milk aren’t meat or dairy free.
My brother used to make rap beats on different DAWs and I would write these funny ass raps and play them through microsoft Sam's voice and record it. I can still remember the words to one of them in full. The strange way he would say some words faster and slower than one another and randomly pause or rush through sentences gave him his own cadence.
It's entirely because of this classic meme that I always read "soi" out loud as "swa" out of habit. Whether anyone around me gets the reference or not. XD

I did the same thing on my HP Pavilion a700n PC with Windows XP Home Edition SP2 on it back in 2010 (which is now broken as of 2011 possibly because its motherboard has been fried, so I hope to get its motherboard replaced so I can get it running again since it's incredibly rare). I do the same thing in Windows XP Professional in Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and VirtualBox and it's still hilarious!
Swass is the debut album by Sir Mix-a-Lot and the fourth track on the album. It was released in 1988 on Nastymix and re-released on CD by Def American Recordings.
i am confused at why youtube decided i had to watch this absolutely put it first in my home page, recommendation after watching any videos, and RU-vid even sent me a notification on my phone ... not disappointed tho, it brings back a tone of memories
