Clara Pagett It gets better: the new MacBook Pro is a mistake. Aside from the Touch Bar, which looks cool, everything about the laptop is very disappointing. Price, specs and I/O.
Excellent review as always. You always focus one making the product's details famous instead of yourself which is something I wish more RU-vidrs would do! Big fan.
Nobody gonna mention that this dial is $100.00 , and yet y'all always complaining on apple being money whores but this dial should've come with the computer .
DetroitBORG Is there any possiblity can you do a review of the HTC Vive, I'm on the verge of buying them I just want to see a review and your opinion. Thanks Buddy!
I think the dial has a lot of potential in future. It could have number of uses, not just for Autocad drafters. Imagine the dial on the left hand and mice on right, possibilities are end less for all sorts of jobs. Good innovation Microsoft. Apple caught napping here.
@DetroitBORG Your videos are best in terms of quality and explanation. It has been 4 years since I had subscribed to your channel and you're the reason I bought my first Samsung Galaxy S4. I am grateful that you're on RU-vid. Please never stop.
+HEAD_Crusher Gaming beta wo RU-vidr ha with nearly a million subs, companies send their product to these RU-vidrs for free .. but in this case it seems that he bought himself
tyrannical chris you dont really have to look down to, its right below the screen basically extending it. You need to take scale into account with the studio
Mac Guy3135 fair enough... just one sexy looking computer. seems like it shows off what Microsoft can do when they flex their muscles a bit... I say bit only because it has some of the design queues as if Apple designed it...
your are one of best reviewers on the internet....before I buy any mew device whether it is an Apple, microsoft or samsung device , I have to check ur review first..thx Lot for ir efforts 😊and keeo up the good work.
It's a gimmick that a few programs will support and then it will disappear. A finger, stylus, mouse or trackpad would sufficiently cover these functions and they are supported by all software, windows, mac, iOS or android.
I agree.. but as an engineer that uses 3D industrial design software on a daily basis, this would be a nice extra for handling and editing models... For the general public, this is a gimmick.... however, the Surface Studio is not targeted to the general public anyways...
Just like DQuiLon, I too work on 3D models; for video games tho. I don't have a dial, but I find it to be interesting as possibly a useful tool for working with. Touch screen, and Pen are definitely some great tools to help with workflow that have been updated. This might be an equivalent to a mechanics wrench set, for me.
Many artists draw with a graphic tablet nowadays, so this would be a dream come true for many digital artists. Personally for me, I'm a traditional artist. Nothing beats pencil and paper, so I'm with you on that.
Lol when I watched your review of the surface studio yesterday and when I saw that you were able to get this for free for buying the surface studio I was thinking you should do a review on it and you did :D great video man
Why take back everything to the Mac ? It's infuriating, he expressed a random opinion not related to Apple and you just jump his throat. I agree that for an average consummer this dial is gimmicky but this computer is clearly intended for artists to begin with.
In todays day and age of the spoiled modern man, EVERYTHING is a gimmick. Dont tell me it's not, because I see the same comment on every new video about every new tech product.
Is that voice real or has it been augmented by some very pricey software. So far, (3 out of 3 videos) it's been pitch perfect. And oooo Microsoft Surface Dial. Thxs
While it looks pretty awesome, it just seems like something you would have to make yourself use. As in, it seems like one of those gadgets that eventually fades into obscurity after a while because there's a limited need for it. It looks cool though!
So they can market better suction cups for the base. Probably thought "ehh... someone else can make something to keep if from sliding, where's my paycheck, shifts over"
bcuz, it is made to be slid. If it were anymore grippy, I bet people would complain that it does not slide too well, and how Microsoft could ship a half baked product
There are materials that stay fixed in place without sliding, and yet release with small amounts of external force. The bottom line is that they didn't engineer the material on the bottom to have enough friction to stop it sliding UNDER ITS OWN WEIGHT. It's kind of like a well designed monitor hinge - "zero gravity" - where it stays put under the load of the thing it's holding, but just a small additional extra force vector will allow movement.
I think the video is saying it'll slide if the SS isn't in its most horizontal position. That makes sense, because that's where the dial becomes useful. I imagine making it more sticky would cause it to get dirty more quickly.
Love your videos, very detailed and wonderfully explained. 👌 Can you please do a quick comparison video between iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus? I'm unable to decide which one to buy?.. 😏
The surface dial is the only reason why i want a surface pro , give it a year wait for all other programs and third parties to adapt/update and program the dial into their software, then the time should be right to get one.
Great product but my only suggestion is why not make it wireless or operable without batteries?.. Incase of spilled beverages or any other liquid damage?
Neo Anderson First of all. It does come with a SATA 6 m.2 Drive and also show me a normal hard drive than can even use the speed sata 2 provides. There is none. Also the controller is sata 3 afaik.
Is the sticky pad sticky enough to pick up things from the table? I'm wondering if someone might accidentally scratch up their screen without realizing it.
So Microsoft makes this and people are like "Oh wow, such a cool accessory for artists, so amazing!" And Apple makes an accessory that serves in a way the same function and has other features than normal styluses to make it special (the Apple Pencil) and people are like "OMG A $100 STICK OF PLASTIC THAT I CAN FIND IN A GARBAGE CAN IN 1 SECOND APPLE IS SO STUPID!!!" Come on people. Apple isn't the only one appealing to a certain market. Keep in mind these accessories are the same price too
Ethan Smith This is infinitely more useful than a stylus. MacOS doesn't even support touchscreens lmao. What's the point, for your fucking ipad? Jesus.
exactly, not to mention it was made bc of the note's stylus (but does less) and then the windows pen came out, also better than that stylus Anyways, ethan, you realize you can use your surface pen with this right
I'd be interested to know after a few months how the Surface screen surface is holding up to all the pen and Surface Dial use, is it more scratch resistant than a standard touch screen?
Microsoft only needed to make one fine adjustment. The surface dial should have been an electro magnet such that when applied to the Surface studio screen it firmly stick to it without sliding. If the range is say 10 metres, you could use it as volume rocker to adjust the sound, bass and treble. Let's dial music... Xmas style 📯🎷🎼🎻🎹🎵
