Not really. Programs like Steam just can't run there anymore because underlying technology (such as the embedded chromium web engine) physically don't support Windows 7 anymore. Not to mention it's also just a security liability. New technologies are being used in Windows 10/11, and if those aren't available on Windows 7 then it's simply not compatible. If there's any programs that should work but are simply hardcoded to block Windows 7, maybe you can reverse engineer the program and write a binary patch to bypass the check. But I doubt there's programs that just block Windows 7 unjustified, so even if that would work - I wouldn't recommend it.. Not to mention that this process of modifying executables is ridiculously involved and time consuming. As long as there's still extended support and security updates for Windows 7 you should be... okay.. running it. If you have specific reasons to dislike Windows 10/11 you can always run Linux, it has a compatibility layer to run Windows programs (and often it can run older programs better than Windows 10/11), and you can style it to look and feel like Windows 7. Not to mention it would be more lightweight. But I suppose Linux is not for everyone, and I can understand that. If you do though, you should probably go with Linux Mint. Oh, and there's also ReactOS. It's an effort to reverse engineer Windows NT and build a new system that's fully compatible. It's like an open source and modernly maintained retro Windows. However, despite that project being around for a long time, it's not really viable yet. But worth keeping an eye out for it. Maybe a company deems it worthwile and sponsors it, and in a number of years it could then be daily drived by some people. Maybe..

That's great! Yeah, you can easily still use Windows 7, even though some apps either don't support it or are starting to not support it.

@@DevSorah It should be fine for you. As long as you don't download and install any malicious files on your Windows 7 computer, then you should be all good. Keep in mind though that you should use an antivirus software if you are unsure whether or not your computer will be safe if you use it online. You should also install the latest available security updates too to ensure your Windows 7's computer safety. If you are going to use it offline for the most part, then you should be fine. @@DevSorah Honestly it's no different than any other version of windows usability wise. You still get MRT updates, Defender updates and critical patches till this day, other than that you may as well get the latest edition fully patched up instead of bothering with updating all the service packs after install. I think the latest versions of NOD32 dont install on W7 but if you find the last installable version and do a trial then you can actually upgrade to the latest version, a little loophole..... It's super stable and just a simple. I think DX version is only 11 though, however microsoft has ported DX12 for select games. Just use common sense and you wont have to worry about viruses or keyloggers.

@@VSS199 Don't know, possibly not, my use of the system is pretty limited. Net access, photos, docs & images, etc., but they're all ok, & am receiving MS security updates every month. Only difference I've noticed is browsers when I open them tell me to update to 10.

​@VSS199 companies are slowly phasing out support for windows 7 now so eventually programs won't work at all on it unless you use old unsecured versions. Some examples are steam and chrome

Nope, some older things simply run slower on W10+. If i use that thing in substantial amounts of course i'm going to run it on best performing OS. Also it's nag free.
