It has the old style glass breaker, which I like though it destroyed clothes due to sharp point. But it also lacks the gimping typically on broad side of handles which is more common. Was this common on 2009 Combat Troodons? Mine from 2013 has the gimping like current (2023) models. . .

Check out the "Troodon" ,size as an Ultratech but miles apart in build quality. Had one, sweet!

Thats not a raptor on the clip. It's a Troodon. A dinosaur, who is thought to have been extremely intelligent. And the eyes would've had total and complete night vision. Wish they still put their animal logos on their clip.

so I had a comment that this was a knock off because of the hardware. Ok here is the deal they used to have plain torqs hardware before. this is an example of the pre-proprietary construction

My hand is a bit smaller so the closing actuation of the blade is really hard for me. Going to hopefully have it down soon though.

Has nothing to do with the size of your hand, Just strength of your thumb! Also make sure your pushing forward without "pushing down" at the same time!

Its a knock off. I have a real one. thats a chinese made knockoff sold on dhgate, alixpress and Alibaba for around 50 bucks. Screws are wrong, triggers wrong, DNA extractor is wrong raptor on the pocket clip shouldn't exist. no etching on blade. Microtech also states that they have never used the serial number 2058. The troodon is the most commonly bootlegged otf they even bootleg the box and send bootleg warranty registration with it.

Bro ...if I remember correctly I believe Elliot Williamson at Ferrum Forge Knife Works got this directly from microtech at blade show so I’m going to have to say I believe you’re incorrect… If you do your research you will find that there was a period of time when microtech used standard hardware.

However if you really think that it’s a knock off I would say I can ask Cory Campbell or Jason McCoy at microtech since their friends of mine to verify... im not saying you are wrong, im just saying I doubt if Elliot would have gotten a fake and not known it.

I prefer a lighting otf $33 even though I like to buy American. I can't stand the price gouging that goes on because its American made. Just like crk won't buy that overpriced fanboy stuff 35 year old design $400 come on microtech $250 I can get a bunch of $33 an only pocket jewelry people would care. Really how many people really use a$200 im sure a few but I can't justify it. Maybe if it did something the $33 dollar one can't do.

The m390 steel blade on the microtech will get 500 cuts before going dull as unopposed to the cheep Chinese steal on the lightning. Microtech uses premium steals and if you search RU-vid youll see how m390 or elmax (premium steals) will stay sharp for much longer. Not only that the combat troodon is tested for durability and is NOT a toy like the lighting.

@@godfoundmehere4703 m390 is nice but not worth 200 dollars i can sharpen my knife in no time an the steel holds a pretty good edge. As for a strong knife if I need something hard use ill use my coldsteel my xhp will hang with anything an has a better lock The lighting i use of fun an I like the tanto just can't justify the microtech price hey if you can more power to you but in the long run its like driving a jeep renegade an you driving a humvee both will get you anywhere just one cost more for the same stuff. I also have m390 in a kershaw knockout its good steel but over priced for my use.
