Howdy ya’ll. Welcome back. Today we will take an astounding walk through Scottish, Irish, and British history. We will browse through what are considered to be some of the earliest photographs taken by the first major photographer to arise out of Scotland. His name was George Washington Wilson, and he was born in Banffshire, Scotland in 1823.
His rapid rise to infamy culminated in Wilson being hired as the official photographer for the British Royalty. Eventually this progressed into Wilson documenting the castles, fortifications, and largest cities of the empire and beyond. His collection today amounts to roughly 75 images captured between the years of 1860 and 1870, with a focus on Scotland, Ireland and Great Britain.

Before the internet and the age of information, the whole world was building same style architectures everywhere on their own.. highly ornamental, super specific.. the interiors are alike.. makes a lot of sense. I took different art classes in multiple schools in different states, not one artist had the same style as another. All were very different, even the ones that grew up in the same city.

No matter how many times I hear it, your soundtrack always seems both appropriate and soothing. Thank you for your time and effort in showcasing this. All that is lost lives on in every one of us.

I've visited Great Britain and Ireland three times. I've seen about half of these sites. Now, the people of the Isles will have to fight to keep their beautiful heritage. Time grows short...

The frontage of the post Office building still stands today, though the entire rear of the building was demolished and replaced with modern materials to turn it into flats.

@@derekathomson they plan to do exactly that to the historical hotel in my city. They are demolishing what little is left so noone can get a full picture of their crimes.

Check Mikhailovsky Palace in St Petersburg, Russia. That one is the real build by Titans. But that famous chateau in France is just the copy. That's the difference between real and a copy.

Jarid, thank you and thank you. In this set, there is not even a pretense of painted on flags. Somehow these slipped through.

Yet again, the underground arches in these buildings proves they just found pre-deluge structures. The founding fathers.

That information has been buried, just like many of the buildings. There is probably cymatic power to the music of the millennial Kingdom. We'll hear it once again before long....

I've been trying so hard! I've done it on certain ones before, but with these I just can't get my eyes to go there. I feel like instead of crossing my eyes, I'm actually focusing on something farther away, if that makes sense.
@withershin

you can just cross your eyes on a monitor to get the 3D "effect". The OG glasses work better but crossing your eyes works. It takes a couple of tries but you'll find it.

In 1860 the buildings looked cooler, there appears great landscaping with less weeds, everywhere looks kind of clean, lack of potholes, and most of it lies in ruins today or gone altogether...

Respectfully, did you miss the part where it gives the title of the music as "Jarid's Song"? My guess would be that it's serving as a type of personalised theme song. That makes a lot of sense rather than having to constantly search for different backing music.
@marciaoh7056
@marciaoh7056 7 дней назад
It's rather like the theme songs associated with a TV show. It puts one in the mood for what's upcoming. Think of classic TV shows like Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock. Actually any TV series. And the shows run with the same faint background music to carry one through the episodes.
