In Logic, one can use a plugin in dual mono mode instead of stereo and convert the signal from left and right to mid/side. This way, any plugin can be processed in mid/side mode.

Deelay PE by Sixth Sample has a fun mode where the ping pong bounces between mid and side instead of left and right. The mode also changes the pan slider from LR to mid side.

You're processing the drum bus with the Side Image Transients in general? Or do you use it sometimes on the master bus too? Is there a Mid Side Option in Puncuate. It looks like it's processing the whole signal and not just the sides...
The technique is more for a creative effect - you just add differing reverbs to the mid and side image. This way the mid is reverberated with one setting, and the side is reverberated with a different setting. It's not a practical effect, but has a cool sound nonetheless.

That's all about saturation and compression, eq is only a little bit of the solution. If you want that smooth high end it needs to be very well controlled and properly saturated.
