03:14 Speaking as a metal Musician/Mixer/Producer ...this tip works for Acoustic and Clean guitars, but will make Distorted/Overdriven guitars sound muddy, if anything you want to be cutting this area (300-600hz) in metal (less important on the side image but in the center, for sure cutting this area is likely too happen, unless you like to mask all your upper mids...then go for it lool)
@@sonnyleesmith hey, that depends a lot of what your goal is. For example i have a synth which i want to be bright in the stereo field, well noticable and really in the face of the listener side saturation is a cool thing. Yeah side sat. can work on vocals as well of course. maybe not in the lead, but on backings maybe. 🙂 I also using saturation for the side signal on my master chain as well. For that i am using the Exciter from Izotope. There you can work with mid and side signals. 👍😃 Hope that helps. 🙂🙂🙂
hello and thank you for your videos. they have been most informative and helpful. I have question: when you separate the vocals into mid and side after duplicating them do you put the vocals in a summing stack or in a pre fader bus and blend the effect in?
Thanks for watching! I typically use a pre-fader bus. Sometimes, I'll also just duplicate the vocal and isolate the side image to process it separately from the original track.
should i cut the lows according to the Key of the song ..like for example..if my song is on F ..then should i apply a low cut on 80hz or whichever is F on side image
Anybody know how to duplicate tracks in FL? I recorded vocals so should I just make another copy of each clip and stack them under the original clips throughout the whole mix and then send them (the originals + copies) to different mixer tracks? I know how to that but I feel like Sage means something else by "duplicate" here.
