Sat Sri Akal Basant Ji. My name is Arminder Singh from Chandigarh. I have 250 shares of Tata Motors and 500 of Tata Motors DVR. I understand that post change, I will have 600 shares of Tata Motors. Will I have to pay Capital Gains during the process of conversion of 500 DVR shares to 350 normal shares? If yes, then what consideration price will they take for these 350 shares? if they take the CG for the gains till now and take current price for consideration, then it's fine. But if they simply consider at price we bought, then we will sell these, will be paying CG again on whole of the gains? It's confusing, so please pick this question.

Dear Sir, The RBI and the Government are concerned that funds from banks, especially retail customers’ fixed deposits, are being diverted to the stock market. They believe this is leading to a depletion of funds in banks. However, if we understand the sequence of funds flow, money withdrawn by the buyer of shares from his bank actually moves to the bank of the seller of the same shares through the stock broker/exchange. Thus, the overall banking system does not lose any money; the funds simply move from one bank to another, keeping the total funds in the banking system intact. Given this, why is the RBI expressing concern? Could you please clarify? Thank you.

Would it be illogical to demand that capital gains on equities trading be abolished. Instead, the tax should be at the account level and unless there is any withdrawal from the account to the bank, there should be zero tax incidence.

I am asking because it is a fix fee product. I did some basic calculations where I'm assuming the rate of MF return and smallcase return is same and MF expense ratio is 1.5 then small case that has annual fee of approx 37K then to compete with MF one has to put in an investment of approximately ₹24.67 lakh. is my calculations right. off course the smallcase returns as much higher.
