One of the best books I've read this year is a SciFi called Cascade Failure by L M Sagas. It's sequel is actually out next week and I'm so excited for it!
I feel you on burnout, I’ve been struggling with that myself. And I had a whole reading slump in June it wasn’t great. My fave books so far this year are Bride and Funny Story.
Only for the Week definitely deserves the hype. Bardugo I dipped in and back out not sure I'll read the set or not. I think I have Rebecca Roanhorse on hold and waiting at the library.
If you liked Turton's latest, there's another Sourcebooks author you might enjoy: Brideau wrote a near future climate fiction novel that I loved called Adrift. It's a really interesting blend of genres - kind of speculative suspense/mystery set against climate impact backdrop? (Features amnesia, which I know some people hate/some love.)
Highlight: Asunder by Kerstin Hall (comes out in September I think?) and a disappointment is probably The Familiar. I didn’t dislike it, it was a 3.5 for me, but I was expecting a 5. :/
