Here is a mid year homeschool book haul from Rainbow Resource. This is only a handful of the books I plan to assign my children as we journey through the Middle Ages over the next 18 months in our history lessons!

"Good Masters, Sweet Ladies" was one of our favorites when we went through the Medieval era.

We just finished the Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle and loved it! I’ve been recommending Howard Pyle’s edited version for children “Some Merry Adventures of Robin Hood” for those who want less of the ale drinking and merriment focus :) (though our house loved the original like you got) Such a great version with 19th century English ❤❤❤

Do you make your own ranch sauce for the pasta salad or use store bought? Want to try it but considering we don’t have buttermilk! I am thinking how it could alter the flavors! Thanks

We are on our second time around with SOTW vol.2 and have read some of these books. Some of our favourites so far this year have been The Celts and All That by Alan Burnett and The Golden Hawks of Genghis Khan by Rita Ritchie. I like the Howard Pyle version of The Merry Adventures of Robinhood.

Thank you for this! I hope you plan to do this for all of the volumes. We love using Story of the World to do History as a family, but adding the reading for high schoolers takes it to that desired level. Did you make a similar video for Volume 1? Thank you again. Your videos are always so encouraging

We just started architecture and are reading the Castles book by David Macaulay. Might want to check that one out! (Cathedral will be our next study.) Also, if your kiddos like Lego, check out Medival Lego for historical snippets with Lego pictures. Glad you’re feeling better!

Also, I think you’d appreciate The Hawk of the Castle - A Story of Medieval Falconry. It’s a picture book with fact boxes on falconry.

I use Bibliolan and every yesar comes with lists and lists of readers and read alouds for every part of history we stusy. I choose some for each year and like you pack it in containers for the next time we study that time period.

I just recently finished White Horse King by Benjamin Merkle and thought it would be a great book for older boys, especially any interested in the military!
