I noticed Ca Governor Gavin Newsom hold the card with chip, a little rectangle shape on the middle of the bear's back. I have received my card without chip. What does it mean?
This whole mess will show at voting time! I made 20 calls on the number on the card for help and still got no live person on the line. And the robo operator couldnt find my card number. Even online chat is an automated system that told me to try again..... I wish I could sue the state over this maddness. I must have about 10 hours invested in trying to get a real person on the line. I give up.

Never got my fraud report resolved when I called back in 2022. Please don't use these cards. Same rabbithole as the refund prrpaid cards from service providers, just send a check or direct deposit!
I had to call the police after finding that my abusive estranged husband had mine. I have been from him for years and file as Head of household, his address has never been used by me for any reason and now they have blocked the card and it could take 4-6 weeks for reissue. I got a spam notice saying something about it from Best Buy??? and it prompted me to call FTB and when I did they asked me questions and two had the abuser and my address had been changed from mine to his.
There is a secret option 4 that is not mentioned when you call the number to cancel the card and issue a check. When it asks you to press option 1 press option 4 instead even if it does not mention it.
Still haven't received the ca mctr as of February 4th 2023. One roommate got theirs months ago, another roommate just got theirs a week ago. Every year I've done my taxes through direct deposit and on time. Where is the tiny mctr that ca said to the public that it will send? And why are we not getting any answers from the CA FTB or the (censored) money network shell company? Who do we need to fire from state employment to get this corrected?

IMPORTANT: it is dangerous to give a bank personal information, particularly without approval from the private citizens. Tax refunds etc have always been a check or direct deposit. It should REMAIN so. Enough giving money away. Yeah, hard to believe struggling people would say that.

How environmental, send out a bunch of plastic cards loaded with fees and privacy (sharing private data) issues when it could have been direct deposited. I also wonder when for all those who wrongly got the debit cards and have their personal information shared without their consent, when the class action lawsuit will begin.
I got mine. When I call the activation number my call gets dropped while the recorded message is playing. The website listed in the letter that comes with the card is equally useless.
@ralphferley I support every Democratic Governor in this country and Newsome is one of my favorites, he’s smart, progressive, open minded and loves his state and his people. I wish he was my governor, but I’m stuck with Abbott.

Don’t spend your tax refunds yet though middle class. You’ll need it when they raise our taxes next year to pay for this. To Unions and those considered higher income, don’t worry about this, the tax hikes will exclude you and Governor Nuisance will continue to give you your usual kick-backs.

I got the 250 on a card already. You have to go to their page and it will tell you estimated dates. By last name, filed taxes already. My daughter hot here's direct deposit in October. I got my card in November by last name.
