I wanted to get out to middle grounds, never made it , but you are taking me there on every dive. Love these videos. My favorite is "I would not do that again for a $1,000." Yep what a carbo! Thanks Jerry b.
SB, we had a stretch of good weather and got offshore quite a bit . It's been nasty for the last week but hoping it lays down and we get back out soon! Glad you're enjoying the videos! Best, Dan
Always Dan...1 day...jus for fun u & d crew should come to Jamaica to link up with some a the free divers like #jamaicawildlife, #spearfishingjamaica...they both RU-vidrs so look them up...
Thanks AA, I had a pretty good idea of where he was but with all the Lion Fish around really didn't want to go in there. I was glad to get him and the spear and not get stuck! Best, Dan
Glad you enjoyed it SF. That super clear water can con you into taking a shot that you might not otherwise! Hope to have another go at that Gag someday! Best, Dan
I am a fan of his videos. I am a fisherman the same. but what I like the most are their rifles that it hurts that they do not arrive here from Mexico .. a cordial greetings to all, keep uploading more content, greetings to all. if a fucily gets in the way, send it to them
I love your videos. Even tho I can’t dive I get to go with you. It would be great if you could tag the other fish we see. I’m very interested in learning all of the fish.
Top !Aqui no Brasil , pescamos muito na apneia , sem os cilindros de ar , essas ponteiras pra apagar os peixes grandes como sao feitas , por aqui tbm e bom ter umas pra peixes maiores
Again, very beautiful water, amazing shots, fish like a painting... You are amazing, my friends. Congratulations.👍🙏🐟👌👌 I'm so offended by his dive partner ... Where did he go? Greetings from TURKEY to the whole team...
Bryan, I discard them after each trip. My life or a big fish are worth more to me than a $1 bullet. I don't coat mine as I only use the factory water proofed rounds. If those weren't available, then yes, I would absolutely coat them! Best, Dan
That second gag was one that when you get your hands on him you just want to squeeze its eyes til the forehead bone cracks. Few more days and we will be heading to the north end of the grounds. Love the bottom out there. Dan what hull is that? Do you still have the big boat?
Jmac, he def gave it all he had. If I'd have managed to grab the shaft earlier it would have saved a lot of time. Years ago, I would have bombed down on him but with Lion's everywhere now, he who charges recklessly in, gets stuck! It's a Tempest 44'. No, I sold the Diesel boat back in 2014. Hope you have a great MG trip! Best, Dan
Some of the best bottom yet... and to think the sea level was once low enough for that to be live reef ... us humans are just a blip in geologic time... all these idiot's talking sea level rise, yep sure does , sometimes it falls. Its been doing it for millions of years...
Hey Todd, it is pretty cool to think about how shallow it was out there during the last Ice Age....you're right, we're just a blip , here one second, gone the next. We def gotta make the most of it while we're here! Best, Dan
B1506, yes always. You're right, I just usually delete most of the ascent, deco and/or safety stop. Trying to keep the videos to a manageable length and cut out the boring parts. Best, Dan
EK, I like a cheap no brand name Chinese dive light. Simple on/off switch. Not a click on, click again and its dimmer, click again and it's even dimmer, click again and it strobes, click again and it vibrates and salutes the flag and finally click again and it actually shuts off. In all seriousness, here's an ebay item number #333809642206. Just one of the many sellers that sell them. Make sure you get a quality battery, I like the Panasonic 26650. Don't waste your time on the cheap Chinese batteries, they're junk. Occasionally the factory won't tighten down the Bezel enough so check that and you're good to go. Best, Dan
@@danmacmahon3973 by the way you and your crew are amazing at what you do. I’m happy to just get a legal black and you guys are able to shoot 5 gags in 4 minutes 250’ down in the ocean.
TB, to my shame, somewhere around 15-20 (I quit counting) times. 2 or 3 would fall into the "severe" group. Worst one was 3 big spines into my right Knee...swelled up like a BasketBall...I made a "highly intelligent" decision to continue diving which led to it swelling to stupid proportions. Sitting up all night in ugly pain with sweat running down your face will make a believer out of you. Some of the funniest stories on my boat have involved Lion Fish (Funny now, not then). Best, Dan
DR, that really is a beautiful spot. Yes there's a good market for Scamp but those were on the small side. The depth there is about 100' on top of the reef and 135' at it's base. Best, Dan
ROH, in some situations, two would be better. But for most situations (doing what I do) one is better. Advantages are faster loading, not blasting a spear completely through a fish, not driving the spear so far into a reef that it can't be pulled out., etc. The only real advantage with two is deeper penetration on really large fish and a slight increase in range. The range increase is a very small advantage because you're now shooting so far away that the chances of a "stone" or disabling shot are slim to very slim. Best, Dan
ML, That's too bad, I'd really miss it if it was illegal here. We're blessed with a 100-125 mile wide Shelf so you hardly ever see another boat during a trip. Thanks for watching, Best, Dan
Bob, I never have for a Gag, but I did momentarily mistake one for a big Black on a dirty deep dive years ago. I had speared two big Blacks when another rounded the corner and I swung the gun towards him. I realized it was a JF/GG moments before putting the third spear into that little flat spot right between his eyes. Surprised there wasn't a cloud of JF excrement in the water! Lol, Best, Dan
