Middle Of The Road featuring Sally Carr I do not own the rights to this song, nor the pic and effects used in the video. This Song is available on: MIDDLE OF THE ROAD "The RCA-Years"
What a wonderful and unforgettable group! I can't get enough of listening to your songs with great affection and longing! Thank you very much, Middle Of The Road, for the beautiful songs that fill us with joy and happiness, and that will live forever in our hearts!
Wow, a real band. Real talent. Real song writing. Real instruments. Real people. Not a laptop in sight! No let's pretend. Real artwork. ReaL memories. You dont see that nowadays? I'm old now. I saw these guys live in the 1970s and they were knockout. What a voice! They were massive, no wonder? They will be remembered for ever.
Many thanks for the wonderful compliment. you're right, nowadays this kind of music doesn't exist anymore. everything has become fast-moving and interchangeable. but memories of another time with real music remain. Greetings and best wishes.
Nice one Rudi. I can't believe I have known Sally 40 years. That is scary ! Abba actually covered this , or at least Agnetha from Abba long before they made it as Abba. It is about mining and I guess "Union Silver" was what you were given for so many years service working in the mines. Must try to find out though !
Absolut.
Brigamos? VIVA O AMOR!!!
At long last! In August, I searched for this song but couldn't find it on RU-vid - and now it's here! This is the version I remember from 1974(?) and it's sooo good! And it's the only song by Middle of the Road that I like... Agnetha Fältskog's version is good as well.
I still have the original MOTR vinyl record on which this great song was published: Drive On, 1973. It's one of my favorite MOTR song too. Too bad these original recordings are not available in the iTunes shop, one can only find a couple 'best of' collections there.
UNION SILVER - MIDDLE OF THE ROAD Look at her, my Friend said pointing down the Road You can tell by how she looks she wears a heavy load. So we stood and watched her didn't say a Word. But she must have read our troughts for this is what we heard. Union Silver has taken my whole Life Irom my teens to the sixty years I'm living now. Lord have mercy on me come and look upon me make a smile Show once more on my Face Union Silver is gone before it's made and I can feel my Shoes won't wear the Winter cold. Can you tell me my Friend where it's goin to End, cause Union Silver doesn't want to know know why Then we walked on by her Ileaving her alone not a word was spoken as we made our may back home. Till this Day I see her. See her standing there A mining Town, a miners Wife with coal Dust in her Hair.
@pixelsarefun thank you very much, colin! ...for your compliments and for translating... it sounds real good and persuasive. greetings to you... and sally, if you meet her again ;-) your friend rudi
This is wonderful, I love it very much, thanks dear Carina for let me know about this video-song and also like to congratulate the nice work done here HearRover57, this goes straight to my favorites.
@tjvanpopta thank you for your feedback! "UNION SILVER" is one of those underrated songs... not so catchy and typically for MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, but very nice. greetings rudi
I've heard the Agnetha Fältskog version of this song ("A Song of Sadness and Happiness"), which I really liked, so I wanted to hear the original version -- and I like it even better! The refrain (chorus) is so beautifully done, it gives me chills every time I hear it :-) The album that this song is on is nearly impossible to find in the US; thank you for posting it!
Hi Luc, i know... this Song was the B-Side from "Honey No". Sally still singing "Union Silver" on Concerts today... Thank you for your kind Comment! Rudi
Nogmaals bedankt!
@missbeauty58 thank you my dear carina for your support and great compliments. that means a lot to me, because you are really a ideal fot my works... a big hug from bavaria to norway... to a very close and kind friend. XXX rudi
Simply a wonderful song, I think :o) It exists in Danish as well (entitled "En sang om sorg og glæde" and performed by Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann) - wonder if it can be found in Italian too :o)
@villespike thank you for your comment... "union silver" is from 1972 and finally it was released this year on cd. as i know, this song was also sung by tony willé. greetings from bavaria ;-)
Ja!
@@mk0800 Nein - stimmt nicht ganz, was Du sagst.
The lyrics were written by Michael Shepstone who is the drummer of the very popular band The Rokes. The Rokes is a Bristish band who made their success in Italy in the 60's and after whom a famous guitar company named one of its models Eko Rokes.
Was denkst Du denn, mit was Sally singt? BASTA
@2007danman thank you for your comment! you are right... this is simply one of the best songs from middle of the road. there are many versions from agnetha, nana mouskouri, toni willé and the danish duo g. & j. ingmann.
Thank you Dear Carina for Sharing It´s a lovely version of a great single for our Dear Agnetha the swedish title is: En sång om sorg och glädje and it is Song Of Sorrow and Joy in english language thank you Rudy for made this wonderful video Pepe
@xDani3lex You are welcome darling, Rudi make so beautiful videoes and I love Middle of the Road too. Thanks for comment on his new video, that makes me very happy. One of my fave groups. Love Carina*
Since MIDDLE OF THE ROAD was there before ABBA, it would be more correct that ABBA sounds like MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, the Swedes continued the way from the Scots...
The very fact that Miss Brilliant herself (Agnetha) thought enough of this song to cover it proves what a great song it is. Agnetha is the High Priestess of music.
Hey - just don't overdo it. No doubt - that Agnetha from ABBA covers this song from MIDDLE OF THE ROAD is an honor for Sally Carr. But what remains of ABBA? Only the illusion, rumors that the band would perform again. Even new songs announced for years have not appeared until today. ABBA lives on the myth. I am convinced that if this band would appear live again 30 years after their great successes, it would be a total disappointment for the fans. Not only years, but decades passed that the members of ABBA did not deliver new songs. Therefore, for me, absolutely exaggerated, if Agnetha is portrayed as a "heroine", her cover version of "Union Silver" should be better than the original. Only the original of MIDDEL OF THE ROAD is the best version of Union Silver.
@@Joe-YamahaR6 Everything Agnetha has done or ever will do is iconic. As the song says, Joe, she is the wind beneath my wings. So much so that 40 years ago I changed my name to Agnetha. But you have a right to your opinion.
