The gym you mentioned with the horn/strobes not being loud enough should be set to high volume because if there was a gym event and the people who are on the bleachers are loud, the horn/strobes could be heard through the noise
I would love to see another “durability test” of fire alarm equipment but with ElectroBOOM. That guy knows his stuff when it comes to destroying equipment (and electrical systems in general.) He is also just a ferry ride away. I’d love to see a collaboration someday.
Cool video and cool school! Did you make a video about this school doing a drill very recently? And how come I heard the security system go off when you pulled it, I also heard it last time you did a drill at this school. I love how you do a drone shot around schools! School looks very nice, can’t wait for the annual! Keep up the great work!
There have been two drills at this video uploaded a week apart and filmed like two weeks apart and it's not the security siren but the PA system that plays a quick siren Woop when it's being triggered to shut down
Hey nic, I heard that Canada had a forest fire with smoke and the smoke came to Illinois weather channel was going crazy yesterday because of the smoke yesterday and we did have some power outages with no rain, no thunderstorms, no wind idk why the power went out, Please read this and thank you
@@nics-systems-electric Aside from the volume setting, that less scratchy sound is probably why the L-series horn sounds a bit less harsh on my ears than the Advance. I also find the Wheelock AS and the Simplex TrueAlert (specifically the multi-candela horn/strobe models) just as loud.
My school gym is worse. It is a voice evac system and is tied into the sound system in there. The problem is that if the sound system is turned off or is turned down, that also affects the voice evac. They do also have a ton of speaker/strobes in there (17 to be exact) but those are completely inaudible over people talking.
@@joeycaridi3030 There is also a volume problem in the classrooms. Like I mentioned earlier, the school has voice evac so it is pretty quiet. The problem is that the original part of the school (built in 2008) has nothing in the classrooms and the additions only have remote strobes in the classrooms.
No they are two separate schools just fed from the same electrical distribution and generator and same heating and cooling plant other than that they are two separate buildings all three buildings are networked together however if any one alarms it will just come up as a indicator light at the annunciator in the other two buildings they do not put each other into full alarm
Being from the UK I’m not to familiar with regulations in the US and Canada, however they seem relatively similar for placements and volumes. One thing I have to question is the singular blue strobe outside, why only one? Why blue? Also have to question the lack of outside horns/strobes
Horn strobes are not required outside unless it's part of the building that you need to evacuate. blue strobe is just to indicate to responding fire department annunciator location
The horn strobes in the gym aren't loud because they're behind the cages that an STI stopper uses and set to low volume which reduces the sound output from the horn strobes by absorbing the sound waves so to fix this problem the cages have to be replaced with wire guard cages and turn the horn strobes up to high volume and it's kinda ironic that this is in a gym and they would be louder than in other areas but you're wrong
@@nics-systems-electric It could be these cages that they're making it sound quieter just like taping a horn strobe to make it quiet as these aren't wire guard cages where using wire guard cages will make the horn strobe retain the same volume
@nics-systems-electric isn't that too often. I live in England and when I was in school we always had to have one in September after the 6 week holiday then we would not have another one until April time
@@ashleyshorthouse2807 we are required to do six per year and the school did not open in September as it was still under construction it did not open until after winter break and they didn't do drills for the first couple months while they settled in so they got pushed back a long ways and I still don't think they did all six
@@nics-systems-electric no i meant like when will you guys be able to get a tech over and have you all will take a look again and fingers crossed it gets fixed
