In this video, I show you how to setup and use a Midea Cube Dehumidifier. This model is a 35 pint (4.25 gallon) but other models are available. One feature that is helpful is the Midea app. The app helps you control all of your Midea devices- with a quick tap, you can schedule the unit to turn on and off, change the fan speed, and much more.

Is yours still working? This thing seems to work a bit over a year just over the warranty period then quits, my experience and also many others on Home Depot. There are no parts and no service manual. worked great when it did, but not enough to take 300 dollars from me every year.

I bought the 50-pint version of this unit about 2 months ago. It is great a purchase, lowered my basement from about 65% to 50% in less than 2 days. The musty odor disappeared in less than a week. Best money I have spent in a long time. Directions could be a little better, but online help was excellent. I went to the big box store and bought a 20' hose with the same ID and OD as the short hose in the box. It lets me put the dehumidifier towards the middle of my basement and drain the water to the catch basin.

Purchase the one with the pull-out bucket in the front it would have brought you humility down in your basement in a matter of hours instead of days. I have two different models of the 50 pint and the cube is less efficient as the old school design can dry the paint on the walls.

I bought one of these Midea dehumidifiers three years ago and it's been excellent. Innovative design makes it easy to empty and having a dehumidifier in my house has practically eliminated the indoor mildew problem I was having during the cold rainy months.

Great video, thanks for the review. In the segment in the bathroom you mentioned not always remembering to let your exhaust fan run for a length of time. I replaced the switch to my exhaust fan with a timer switch that has run-time buttons for 5, 10, 15, 30, & 60 minutes (available at the big box stores). I just hit the switch before I get in the shower and the fan runs for the selected amount of time, then automatically shuts off. Easy diy project (would make a great RU-vid short 😀).

I was in the market for a dehumidifier, and saw this video. I’d already watched your vids on your basement mods and enjoyed them so, based on you saying it was a good unit, I decided to go with this one. (A cheaper, non smart) model actually. I plugged it in, and within an hour I’d got the bucket 1/4 full! I’ve added a hose and turned it to bucketless mode now. I’m already seeing a big difference on my humidistat! Thanks for the heads up on this unit.

That was an excellent video. I bought one this month. The instructions are good, but confusing for some people. I was a little confused myself but it was working fine. Now I know so much more about it and how to use it. Excellent! You made it so easy to understand. You went through everything and you were so easy to follow and listen to. Showing how to use it with your cell phone was great for those who want to do that. After listening to your video, it is so much easier to look over the manual and understand it. you went through every little detail. It is saved in my RU-vid Favourites. With all the rain these day; basements flooding, etc. a dehumidifier like this is a must! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!

Good informative video.. I bought the bigger Midea cube dehumidifier from Costco.. it was normally $239 but they had a $50 off for the 50 pint unit. It has wheels you can add which is helpful to me. It still is a little heavy for me. I’m a 5ft gal! I didn’t even know I needed a dehumidifier until I saw my sister use one. This one is in my basement, have only had it a few days but always amazed at how much water accumulates in the container below. I hope it lasts a long time! Thanks for the info.

@@project_hollow6627 I stopped using the Midea humidifier because the on and off switch is no longer usable and this was quite a while ago. I definitely would have bought this when I lived in my old state (Michigan) as the humidity was always very high. I mean the state was surrounded by lakes. But now I live in Wyoming and the average humidity is 17% and the only time it gets higher is when it rains and an hour or so after it stops it's basically back to less than 25%. So really no use for it. But boy I wish I this would have been available back when I did live in a high humidity area. Thank you for the information though! Great video. I just bought this unit a few weeks ago from my local Home Depot for my crawlspace that got a little water in it and is usually humid. This unit is amazing and works great. As you said, the phone app is awesome. I started using bucket mode to test it and it worked great. I now use bucketless mode. I also just started to use the schedule mode. I learned a couple things in your video I did not know. A couple years ago, I had this issue and tried a couple different units I bought online. They were garbage and I sent them back. This does a great job and I highly recommend it. 1 question: What do you recommend I keep the crawl space humidity at? I think the app showed 50 or 55%. ( I live in Michigan). Thanks again

It works very well. It does make a room warm if on a lower setting (running more often). I could never get the app to work with the device though. I'm not upset, as the function of the dehumidifier was well worth the price paid for it. Edit: I use this in my basement as I use a few 3D printers and need to get the air less humid. It works very well. P.s. I hadn't even realized there were filters until this video lol. Just cleaned them out.

I actually bought this in anticipation of my water going out during a grid takedown. I plan to plug it into a solar generator to produce needed water from the atmosphere. I will filter it for drinking or use it unfiltered for cleaning and flushing. I live in a highrise, so catching rainwater might not be an option in an emergency.

I Noticed Costco stopped selling this product already and some reviews from amazon say its faulty due to the way the product is manufactured i.e filter breaking & galvanized strip holding the condensate tubing rusting easily & causing issues. This seems like a common thing with Midea - cutting costs which results in issues. Similar to the Midea U Shaped units that didn't include a drain hole (now they do). I suspect they will stay in business because they don't have much competition (Company that manufactures GE & Whirlpool products). I hope they consider taking more time testing products. What to buy in 2024? It's really difficult to decide.

This unit is re-branded under about 4 different names depending on where it is sold. Got the 50 unit size at Costco under the brand 'Danby'. It is still a highly rated unit and still has one of the top energy star ratings. The Wi-Fi feature is definitely something that swayed me to try it out, especially at the price point / sqft rating. unfortunately, my unit came with a broken tab that keeps it level in the bucket when in use. So I haven't been able to use it yet until I get my free replacement.

I have been living in my house since 1977 and had the same dehumidifier in the basement for years. My old dehumidifier started getting noisy, the coils were still getting cold. Thought I would buy a new one and it would last for a bunch more years. I got a Midea Cube from Home Depot for about $300, but it stopped working in just over a year. There was just a little frost at one end of the cooling coil. The humidity in my basement was getting high. So, today I went to Lowe's and bought a Hisense 50-Pint dehumidifier with a 2 year warranty for $259. I also got a 3 year extended warranty for $59. The guy at the sales counter told me the 3 years were after the factory warranty. Hope I will not see if he was right.

Interesting that a home in Massachusetts needs a dehumidifier. I live in the northern Midwest, and need a humidifier in the winter. In the summer, the AC takes care of humidity.

Yeah generally the rooms that have AC's in the summer are good, I only have window units. The weather changes so quickly here that sometimes we need a humidifier and the next week it will be super humid. The basement is really the place we need a dehumidifier (and the bathroom). It runs a lot more in the summer and warm weeks in the winter when the snow starts melting. Hope you enjoyed the video. Thanks for stopping by!

Seems only some models have them but not all. As well some marketing say bucket has a bottom drain seal/gasket so you can drain w/o tilting. Mine does not

Curious to know as well. Too many 1 starts where it fails by freon leaks. But then i went and looked and different online stores for much expensive brands, and they too had same issues and failures within 1-2yr mark

Why does the humidifier blows hot air. I got all windows and door close. Feel like I need the AC to cool the room.

On any store, if you filter by 1 star, you will see these cube models fail from freon leak within 1-2yr mark, around or after warranty. Is yours still running. Further research of other brands show same issues. Some suggest the humidity corrode the thin copper pipes vwry fast then leak occurs. At which point dehumidifier starts freezing over due to low freon. As well... every time i remove top unit, it spills water around the bucket. Seems to have a poorly placed drain. Your experience? Thanks!

I'm wondering why on the "1 2 3 4" levels for the amount of water to collect why they didn't just put the number of gallons for each level instead of "1 2 3 4".

You might wanna spin that around so that the coil faces away from the wall and gets three sides instead of starving it off with two sides.

I had a similar thought as he had it in the bathroom with only one side pulling in air. The instructions are to keep the unit 8" or more away from surfaces and objects on all sides. Clearly the front could go up against something, but that's the side we want to read. In a bathroom, a great application for it, we need to take extra care to ensure towels and the like are not drawn to it. Pop on the wheels, roll it int the middle of the room and let it run.

@@utube101x yep its 3 sided for a reason. you put one side against a wall or something.
