Thanks so much for telling me that! I was originally hoping to get a 6000 btu LG 6019 model next spring, but there's no wifi on it and I keep wanting LG to make smaller inverter ACs and now they finally are! I had no idea! Now I finally have an LG to compare with the Midea 8000btu inverter! I just have to find out which will remove moisture better a 6000btu single speed or an 8000btu inverter. At least the inverter model will have wifi controls. I just wish they would make 6000 btu inverters for small rooms.

So I've seen that new model 8000 btu dual inverter from LG for a few months now on a few websites, but it still isn't on LG website and I have called LG several times and they are completely clueless about that model! They did tell me that they support that model, but couldn't tell me if they will be making and shipping out more units or not and couldn't tell me when it will be in stores and on their website. It still isn't on home depot website or lowes website. I hope this changes soon! For now I just ended up ordering a 20 pint dehumidifier for my bedroom since the Friedrich window AC has been making me sick from high humidity, but I like that you can put automatic timers with different temperatures on the app making it like a programmable thermostat on a window AC!

​@@koreymayo8884 Yeah its pretty strange. There's an online store called "appliancesconnection" that ive been checking and the LW8021IVSM been in "available" for a few months. But on other pages for that site, other models say "in-stock". I've been meaning to call "appliancesconnection" phone number to see what exactly is up with it. Hope the new dehumidifier works out for you in the mean time!

@@koreymayo8884 I think they changed the name to LW8022IVSM instead of LW8021IVSM. When you google the new one, there's actually a energystar tag that comes up unlike the other one. Also on "pcrichard" their website shows it can ship now, might be worth looking in to. It's a bit pricey though, especially since the 9500btu is usually less expensive.

Yeah some LG models are loud, some are quiet, but I love everything else about LG. LG also makes quiet energy efficient inverter ACs like midea and has been making inverter units longer than midea, but I wish LG would make more sizes for their inverter units.

Just looked right now. Temp set to 74 room measures 72 degrees and RH is 66% and this is with the unit running at really low speed, drawing about 107-130W.. It's almost like it's producing or adding humidity to the truck. And the truck is insulated with 2" foam board and is very tight, no windows.

The truck is probably too small for that unit. What's the square footage? Over sized air conditioners typically can't remove enough moisture.

Also make sure the fan speed is on auto so it will run the fan speed even lower than low and remove more moisture at the lower fan speeds

@@koreymayo8884 i am running it on auto have tried running it on low fan.. so far it has not worked. That said I am making some modifications to it now. Drilled a hole in the back for drainage (can be closed off if need be.)of course today the air outside is pretty dry so not sure today will give a truthful reading. Yeah the space is too small indeed. I was hoping this unit with it's variable fan and compressor speed would do ok. Space is only 15x8.

@@mattolsson8816 I've been considering this unit for a van conversion because it's a mini split I can hack more easily than other window units. Extend some copper loves and cable lines and voila. I am not normally concerned as much about humidity but I don't understand enough about how ac removes moisture. My van is 12x6. Have you any new thoughts since last month about the unit? Thanks

LG is the only brand of window ACs that immediately shuts the fan off at the same time as the compressor in energy saver mode to avoid condensation blow off from the evaporator coils which is why LG is my favorite brand! GE, Freidrich, Frigidaire, and Midea all run the fan for at least 2 minutes after the compressor turns off resulting in higher humidity!

I just tested my 8K model and the evap fan turned off 6 seconds after I pressed the power button. Not a deal breaker to me.

Wouldn’t you want the fan to run to dry the coils? You don’t want mold building up

I'm not sure, but I think it starts off at low speed and gradually ramps up, so should be a much lower peak wattage than a single speed compressor.

Actually mitsubishi recently came out with a 6000 btu mini split 33 SEER ultra high efficiency, but it costs around $1500.

@@lunaumbra5179 Have you tried hacking it into a mini split yet? I was thinking of doing the same thing. I'd like to separate the indoor and outdoor unit like a mini split. I'd also be interested in running it off of battery without going through DC to AC conversion.

@@CodyWommackVEVO I gave up. The compressor/condenser box is too big to put under the van unless I move the spare tire which I'm not ready to do. Also this unit uses a more modern and more expensive refrigerant. If I fucked up I wouldn't have any help. And to do it right I would need to spend a handful of months learning about ac tech to feel confident. I hope someone else does it. It's likely easier if you don't care about being stealth.

In a van, the mitsubishi doesn't really fit IF you are going for stealth AND you don't have the space. I'm just hoping I find the right people to help egg me on. I basically already did that in my test. Seemed like it would run anywhere from 1500 to 8000 btu if I remember correctly, so that's between 100 and 533 watts since the energy efficiency ratio is 15.

Even with the fan on high and set for 60 degrees it wouldn't run at full capacity when it was cool outside, but on a hot afternoon it will. It has its own built in outdoor temperature sensor.

Hey, how did it go? I'm trying to find out if I can run one of these on a Honda 2000i generator.

Leaving the fan speed on high will cause high humidity and mold unless you live out west where it's super dry. I'd leave it on auto fan speed to keep the air drier and avoid mold. Auto speed will also allow it use 2 speeds lower than low. When the fan speed goes lower it also lowers the btu so that it runs longer which saves electricity because every time the compressor turns back on it uses tons of start up electricity. Keeping the fan on high defeats the whole purpose of an inverter air conditioner.

I haven't tried any GE units but from what I hear they are hit and miss. Some good. Some not. I want to know if the fan shuts off as soon as the compressor shuts off with GE.

We have the GE regular and Profile unit also. They’re really quiet on the lowest setting and work really good but the Midea 8,000btu unit is even more quiet and more efficient

The wattage will vary depending on outdoor temp and indoor temp is all I can tell you.

@@koreymayo8884 Probably. I just got a 2nd one yesterday and it was able to get to 800 watts, but it was in full sun reading 92 degrees. Seems crazy, but I'm going to cut down trees around my original one to see if it can read a higher temperature and cool better.

Most of the time the temp stays 2 to 3 degrees below the set temperature but yeah it does still have a 5 degree range of fluctuation from time to time, which would be a deal breaker for me, but I installed it at a family members house and they are just happy to have AC in that game room.

LG owner chiming in, any model will do you well, but if you want something that can also be quiet when desired, choose an inverter model.

For 6000 btu I recommend the new lw6019er for a room between 150 to 250 square feet and it's quiet. The 6017r model is kinda loud. For a room of 250 up to 350 square feet I recommend any of the 8000 btu models, but get the newer lw8019er if you want something quieter. For a room between 300 to 500 square feet I recommend the dual inverter 9500 btu LG model. I'm hoping to soon get my hands on a new LG to replace my piece of junk Freidrich and will do a review when I get one. Also avoid Frigidaire and GE unless you live out west where it's already super dry.

@@Smurdle450 LG has some newer models now that are as low as 48 decibels instead of the older models that were 52 decibels which is 40 percent quieter! I believe the inverter models are even quiter around 44 decibels, but they don't make any small enough for me. 9500 btu would be grossly oversized for 150 square feet possibly resulting in a moisture problem. So far the only 6000 btu inverter I have found came out this year by Mitsubishi and cost around $1500, but it's also 33 SEER!

@@koreymayo8884 I have a 14,000 In a bedroom that is also way too small for a 14k. The beauty of it being inverter is that it can spin down, so even though it's grossly oversized at full capacity, it can ramp up way down and still end up running constantly! (which is the goal of an inverter unit) The midea U, which is another unit that seems very good, comes as small as 8,000 BTU. (As pictured in your video there.) And again, since it's inverter, it can run way lower than that. No, it's not ideal to have a unit that oversized, but it works. Mitsubishi is in a league of their own.

@@Smurdle450 I actually just discovered that soleus air has a saddle shaped window AC that gives you full view out your window and that's only 6000 btu and an inverter and it says in energy saver mode it turns the fan off at the same time as the compressor just like LG and it's even quiter than Midea at 39 decibels! It's expensive, but I think I just found the perfect window AC!

Make sure you clean the filter every 30 days and watch my video on how to clean the vents and fan blower motor.

This is going to sound random but youre one of the few people ive seen say 77 is perfect. Because i set my AC to 77 also. Anything below 75 or 74 is already too cold for me lol.

Yeah I wish it was possible to aim it straight up. I was really disappointed that it wasn't designed to do that!

Can it be removed without breaking it? I haven't looked into this yet.

@@koreymayo8884 I purchased this unit over the summer for a small office-room in my attic. It works well. It keeps this room (20x20) nice and cool.

Not true. Central units don't have a 5 degree temperature swing. My american standard central unit with a robertshaw swings 0.6 degrees and typically turns on/off every 10 to 20 minutes. The honeywell thermostat we had before would swing 0.4, but would run short cycles of only 5 to 10 minutes, which uses extra electricity and more wear on the compressor. And other window AC brands such as the LG I used to have always stayed within 1 degree.

Sorry Ive been busy lately but this was installed in a family members house and they have no complaints, so it wasn't returned, but if I bought it I for me personally I would return it because besides not controlling the humidity that well I really hate the 5 degree temperature fluctuations. I like thermostats that keep the set temp within 1 degree.

All the Lgs I have had always keep the temperature within 1 degree of where the temperature is set. The honeywell thermostat on the 3 ton American Standard in my house usually stays within 0.3 degrees!

@@koreymayo8884 here's another warning about LG. The inverter models follow the four degree rule, they will spin down the moment the target temperature is reached, but they will not completely shut down until it's 4° below the set point. The 9500, given the design flaw I mentioned in my other comment, cycles constantly, Almost as frequently as a single stage unit. It hits that 4° split, shuts off, then starts again once it gets back to the setpoint. The 14,000 can keep running for a much longer amount of time, despite both being in similarly sized rooms. It's pretty decent at keeping the temperature within 2° of setpoint. EDIT: with all of these complaints it sure sounds like I hate them, doesn't it? I can personally say that I don't hate them, I like them quite a lot. I absolutely love my 14, 000. Although, I would not buy another 9500. I would only get the 14,000, due to it being better suited for small rooms, counterintuitively.

@@Smurdle450 wow thanks for the information. Now I'm wondering what the temperature swing is on the 8000 btu LG inverter. If it's 4degrees than I'd rather stick with a non inverter unit that stays within 1 degree. I cant stand temperature fluctuations from where I set it.

@@koreymayo8884 I believe the 8000 is simply a speed limited 9500, so i imagine it will also follow the 4 degree rule. My 14000 is quick to react, the moment the set point is hit it spins down to a low speed and does its best to stay there, going straight to minimum power if it needs to. As mentioned earlier it generally stays within 2 degrees of the setpoint. The 14,000's minimum power is 180w, while the 9500 has a minimum power of 330w.

Everything is great except the humidity could be better

Strange the one I installed automatically changes fan speeds on its own and cools down very fast and is the quietest window AC I have ever installed. Never tried the timer though.
