Any advice how to use OnSong app as your controller? My rig is IPad to usb iConnectivity Midi2+ interface with (2) outs running into a BeatBuddy drum & Strymon Timeline delay. The app/interface changes my preset parameters whenever I select a new song chart at gigs which is very convenient instead of bending over my but to make changes for guitar. I want to hook up a Molten Voltage Tempode tap pedal that has (1) in/(1) out to sync the drum and delay and change tempos when I want. Would it do the trick to use say (1) out from the iConnectivity interface into the splitter or to hook together the drum machine and delay and rig something up that way like what you show in your video???

Hello midiverse Quick question i bought a special midi cable the RETROKITS -002 that needs power from midi. If i use this midi- through box can i get power to this cable?

quick question. I have a novation circuit, and want to conect two synths. Midi in and out for both of them. Do i need two of these boxes than? One for mid in, one for midi out?

What if you have two controllers? one is the Maschine mk3 and the other is the Arturia keylab mk2. Which one do I use for the in(sending)?

I have a similar set up. A few things like volca, a pocket operator and kaossilator which has midi along with my midi controller mpk 49. I bought a interface (scarlett 2i2) but know there aren't enough inputs for all. (Also having a dj set up, with a rane 62 mixer) I do have ableton. I just don't know where to go from here, and would using an interface along with a splitter something that works together? Or could be of use. Cant find anything on this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Still not figuring mine out very easily. All the tracks play through sequencer 1 only when used with Beatstep Pro. perhaps i have to change beatstep pros Midi Output style?

Great set up. Do I understand this correctly your sequencer outputs sequence data on separate MIDI channels i.e. MIDI ch 1234 into the thru box and that outputs those individual channels to the individual midi channels on the instruments. I.e. Bass in midi ch1 lead ch2 etc etc ?

As far as I know midi thru send all channels (omni). You have to set your device to listen to only 1 channel. But correct me if I am wrong.

@@SyntheticFuture Depending on the model some of them have channel filtering so yes and no :). Just goes to show you should always download the manual before you hit the paypal button to see what you're really getting :)

Would this be ideal to get if my hardware consists of: Behringer RD-8, Behringer RD-9, KORG Minilogue, and a microKORG? i'm planning on getting one or two compressors as well as a Mackie mixer. Would I need a standalone sequencer with that setup? I was thinking of running Ableton with a Novation Launchpad (first iteration) and maybe use that as a sequencer, if possible?

Hey man a quick question: I have Electribe2, Electribe2 Sampler, Juno Di, Nord Lead 4, Waldorf Blofeld. Cubase 9.5. And Cubase sucks at providing stable midi clock. I was wondering can I provide a midi clock from my Electribe2 to the Quadra Thru and then connect multiple devices on that. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

what if there are 8 synths? Can you connect 2 MIDI Solutions together somehow to synchronise all the 8 items perfectly? Or anyhow else? thx

Yea that would technically work, might cause a bit of delay though... if you're going midi in to midi thru on a synth for example there's always going to be some sort of delay time, like fractions of a second. So the more you do that, the longer the delay time is going to be. If none of the 8 synths have an actual MIDI thru port, and a MIDI thru box is required, I would probably just get a larger MIDI thru box. I believe Kenton and Erica Synths both make one with 8 outputs.

If i connect four devices to my one midi output,,when i press one key all the synths would play,,how do you play one,,then another on top,,then another,etc??,,my key step has 16 midi channels,,would i put one synth on one channel,then another synth on channel two,,another on channel three etc..?

Midi Thru, in this case of Box, is the same than OUT, right? I can plug one keyboard into it and send midi to 4 others...

Midi Thru just means that it is a copy of the input signal. MIDI Out is used when a device is actually generating notes or midi cc data. So if you had keyboard that had MIDI In, MIDI Out, and MIDI Thru, the MIDI in would be used to control that keyboard from another one. The MIDI out is used to access the MIDI notes and data from the keyboard itself, if you wanted to control another module for example. Lastly the MIDI Thru will just be a copy of whatever MIDI data is coming into the MIDI IN port, typically. So you can think of this MIDI Thru box as a MIDI splitter, if that makes sense. Hope that helps!

Twolf125 I'm just changing the track. There are buttons that allow you to move forward or backward in the list of tracks that are active. Then on these tracks i have them set to different midi channels. Track 1 is midi channel 1, track 2 is midi channel 2, and so on. Hope that helps.

Yes but the downfall of the box is it is powered via midi and can become a little unreliable past a certain amount of connections...I use the Kenton THRU5 receiving a midi signal from an iconnectmidi 2+....What this allows me to do is tie 5 external midi keyboards and rack modules directly into Ableton (or my ipad) for syncing..Works great I can sync up external performances that use arps directly into a recording session.

Shadow Banned ive found it kinda un reliable too. I use live 10 but I have a lot more hardware synths now and I’d love to be able to have them all hooked up at once. I’ll check out the Kenton. Thanks

@@TheoVoidTV The Kenton Thru5 has its own power supply that makes the difference in reliability I think...Make sure if you buy one that it has the power cable included.

I am already doing that but I use an iconnectmidi 2+ to receive the sync from the PC then it passes on to a Kenton THRU5...Works flawlessly and you can also use an ipad or a master midi keyboard to control them if you wish..Added bonus of the iconnectmidi is it also sends audio via usb so you can insert ipad synths into Ableton.

@@shadowbanned5164 can i ask for advice on syncing synths, kenton and ableton correctly . I am currently even having isssue with my virus c working as an external instrument . I use a scarlett 2i4 and a midi to usb cable to get data across

@@roym1444 If you have a Deluge you can use that as a master to sync all your external midi synths via the Kenton then just run a usb to midi cable from the PC into the Deluge check all the Deluge boxes in Ableton midi section are selected for both input and output and you can trigger the Deluge either from Ableton or the Deluge itself and any external synths hooked into it....My advice would be to get it all running smoothly with the Deluge first (its pretty easy) then bring in the PC afterwards...If you dont have a Deluge its probably in your interest to purchase an iconnectmidi unit and send midi to that via Ableton.
