Brilliant song! Carl (Charlie?) Wayne is a superb singer. Great to hear Roy Wood in the thicker/choir-like vocals at the end. Alas the “band”/arrangement is a bit thin and by-the-numbers. Proof, alas, that whilst Louis Clark is a superb composer/arranger/conductor for strings and full orchestra - someone whose contribution to the classic ELO sound is too often under-rated, dismissed or just ignored - Jeff Lynne is the better producer. The drummer here is clearly just “doing a job”. It’s interesting how much difference having some personality in the underlying drum track matters and how - when it’s not there - it stands out like a sore thumb. Thanks for posting - I did love hearing this.

I love this version. The chorus and the guitar solo in the middle sound brilliant.

I think I prefer this version to ELO's own, it just sounds so euphoric.
