You can say what you want but I saw this band thousands of times in the late 70s and early 80s and they were the best live act I've ever seen and yep I learnt a lot from their politics even if I was 17 and just wanted them to play Borderline. Best live act I've seen. Incredible incendiary band. Don't care what people say about their politics (which by the by has so much resonance now), whether Bono should have done his piece to camera, or whether Silverchair should have done Don't Wanna Be The One. The Oils were untouchable in the 70s and 80s and take that from someone who was there.
people who have a problem with dont wanna be the one are not real fans...i would add people who criticize redneck wonderland come on this album is a masterpiece...its harsh its too noisy the mix is too loud oh my god...ive seen midnight oil start the montreal show with redneck wonderland and it was loud but it was delicious i wish i was there again!!
Well, I love the Oils, and like millions of others, I'd say there are certainly a good number of great U2 songs. It's all opinion, of course, but people all over the world feel that U2 have more than a few great songs.
Thanks Bono, history shows the only obstacle was Tony Abbott, Australia has lost a decade, so sad and disappointing, oh and very embarrassing to be Australian
