Same here. Stopped listening to them after Diesel and Dust came out and I didn't like their new more mellow sound. I really missed out on their career after that.
J’ai 50 ans, je les écoute depuis mes 15ans, j’ai pu les voir il y a quelques années à l’Olympia à Paris. En voyant Peter Garrett, j’ai pleuré, trop d’émotions❤️
What a band/group. Extremely underrated by the music press. Yet true music lovers know different.. And as for Mr Garrett, what a frontman. His energy has no bounds. ✌
Crossed the Tasman Sea in 1978 from Aotearoa. First gig in Sydney was at ‘The Flicks’ in Manly. These guys exploded on stage, blowing everybody away. Been a lifetime fan ever since
Unplugged, but just as fabulous as the studio version! What a band! One of my all time favorites collectively as well as individually. No auto tune here!
Lots of bands (and lots of internet keyboard warriors) talk about changing the world; Peter Garrett actually got into the dirty, unglamorous, boring world of legislation and policy, to make it happen. Much respect.
This is my favorite Unplugged concert of all time. Midnight Oil are one of the greatest bands in the history of rock and I'm so glad I watched this when it was new all those years ago. Also, what an amazing era of music all around. The early 90's were like no other time in music - so many great bands all at their peak at the same time, and so many bands with a strong message and social awareness. These bands were trying to change the world and educate the audience about all the injustice, all the pain, and all the corruption in the world. But they also wanted to rock out an entertain the audience too. God I miss this era so much: for a brief moment in history it seemed like we could all make a difference and change the world. We really need to get back to this way of thinking.
Same here. Im back into the Oils. I grew up with them and went to protests and concerts with them. Now rediscovered them. Just so so good. I love them Thank you Midnight Oils. I have so many memories. The music doesn't age. I love you all. THE BEST.
ME TOO. I WAS THINKING THAT AUSTRALIA GIVES GOOD GROUPS. WHEN I WAS YOUNG, NOW I AM 46, I REMEMBER TO REAL LIFE, ICEHOUSE but when I understood the good music, only the OILS AND THE CHURCH AND A LITTLE INXS
saw The Church supporting Doug Parkingson at Avalon RSL 1980 and was just blown away...i approached Steve Kilby after the gig and asked if they wanted a keyboard player (me) and he said they were likely to break up at that time but would keep in touch..never heard back and then 1 year later..BOOM...then saw INXS at the Manly Vale on NYE that year for $5 entry ..wot a show...although Moving Pictures was the headliner....will never forget Hutchence at his best......those were the days
Este grupo me encanta desde su disco que llegó a México en el 1988 Diesel and Dust. Todo el disco estuvo genial. Peter Garret. Su voz inconfundible. Saludos a los hermanos Australianos. Desde Torreón México
Very cool. Someone from South America discovering a legendary Australian bank. Cheers and best wishes from Queensland Australia Mate.😃😃👍👍 Have an awesome day mate.
@@matthewcullen1298Mathew, been a fan of the Oil's since 1989, I fell in love since I heard "Diesel and Dust". I own all of their records, one of my favorite bands. Haven't had the chance of seeing them live. Now that they will release a new record I hope they tour South America.
Saw them in Cincy in 2002...Capricornia Album... Got all of them to sign it...even Bones...Awesome show... One of my All time Favorite concerts... R.I.P. BONES HILLMAN...YOU WILL BE MISSED...!!!

IIRC I watched it live at a friend's because he had a satellite dish ... That's the way it was in France back in the day to watch MTV. I'll always remember it as a perfect moment in my life. What a great, awesome band.
this MTV show should have been remastered and re-released, few songs had a good recording quality... This one was spectacular... the others not so much due to MTV's incompetence...
