Fun fact: The Pledge of Allegiance was officially adopted by the Congress in 1942, and "under God" part was added in 1954.

Jesus said 'I am the bread of life', and that anyone who came to him would never go hungry. Which, when you really think about it, is a lot like Trick or Treating. Jesus also told people to drink his blood, which is totally where vampires came from. Coming back from the dead? That's zombies, dummy! Ghosts? That's jesus too! Performing magic? Jesus was a witch before witches were cool. During the tenth plague, people would go door to door and mark houses with lambsblood. Today we use eggs!

Oddly Enough, I was at the local theater the Tuesday when Revive Us was playing. I didn't see Revive Us, because the encore presentation of Young Frankenstein was playing that same night. If I'm going to the movies on a Tuesday night, I want to see a GOOD movie. Though, there were less people in the screening of Young Frankenstein than in the screening of Revive Us. That's Kinda Sad.

@tomatodamashi
@tomatodamashi 8 лет назад
So many Atheist missionaries on youtube, always chomping on the bit to demean people's religion... To so broadly assert in such generalities like Christianity being a "harmful delusion". There are plenty of religious people that don't take religion as dogmatically as you purpose, and through their religion are wonderful people. Their "delusion" (if it is even fair to call it that) is certainly not harmful.

I'm not American, but I kinda agree with you on the pledge of Allegiance. From an outsider's perspective it's kinda creepy when you see it in movies and stuff where a bunch of kids have to stand and have their hand out (or on their chest) and say these things which are.... kinda hardcore? Anyway, liked this video a lot :) I always enjoy listening to these discussions. They've actually helped me a lot in becoming more chilled out in just listening to concepts which may be scary to me.
@christhornycroft3686

I’m Canadian and it scares me. And the fact that it originally had references to slavery and black kids are forced to recite it is awful. It’s part of that crap kids are taught that black and brown people should be grateful that they’re not literal slaves anymore and not complain about injustices going on today. Canada is considered by some Americans to be a communist dictatorship 😂, but we don’t force people, especially kids, to swear loyalty to a piece of cloth. If people are flag or gun nuts, they do it on their own.

It is really ironic that they said one candidate believed in god (or whatever they said) and one didn't that they meant Trump believes and Hillary doesn't. But in it is pretty well documented that Trump is not religious at all while Hillary being Christian is very well documented.

When they said "90 million Christians", most likely they were not counting the Catholics. Or Quakers, or Mormons, etc. If Kirk Cameron isn't a real Christian, why do millions of "nice Christians" like Pat and her husband think he is, to the point of equating an attack on his films as an attack on religion?
@artistwithouttalent
@artistwithouttalent 8 лет назад
Flora Posteschild Two people don't speak for the most common religious identity on Earth. Even if you want to say that * most * Christians believe this (and I'm positive that isn't the case) people can be led astray. This is why, even though I identify as a Christian and agree with some of the fundamental tenets of the faith, I don't go to church.
@floraposteschild4184
@floraposteschild4184 8 лет назад
No doubt. And there are whole denominations that wouldn't touch this nonsense with a 10-foot pole. But who is going to his movies? I've seldom seen a Christian poster on the Midnight Screening channel "I saw this movie and liked it; and how dare you mock the Kirkster?" But on Christian movie channels, depending on the reviewer, it's a different story. And that's mostly younger folks, since RU-vid skews young. The older people, who seem to be more his audience, also seem to like him fine. Kirk's films make money. Even something like Saving Christmas, which got 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, had a $500,000 budget (so let's say $1,000,000 total, including advertising), and made $2.8 million at the box office alone, without counting DVD sales, etc. I'm sure the majority of Christians aren't KC fans. But on the other hand, I've never heard a prominent Christian, or any religious organization, denounce the messages in his films. Or in Pureflix films, or the others. If you have, please let me know.

It seems to be alot of people who interpret the Bible in a way that it isn't, right? My wife had heard about it from a friend at work and she was interested in going. I did some research at work and was like, "Um no." It's played more like propaganda and not a revival. As a believer, the bit I watched really bothered me.

As far as I know, churches have to be careful about politics, because if I recall correctly, if they look like they're trying to tell their parishioners who to vote for, they can lose their tax exempt status. The church is not supposed to be influencing politics. Though, I think it's hard to prove unless they're very overt about it, and churches have become good at sneaking around the rule, saying shit that isn't directly telling people how to vote, but making it clear enough to the people in the pews. Though I can't imagine how a vote for Trump would be a vote for Christian values. The man is a walking embodiment of "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to reach heaven."

That's probably true, though I don't know much about how seminaries run. Though I HAVE sat through a subtly anti-marriage equality sermon from a guest pastor about a year ago. He never said the word "gay" or "homosexual" or anything like that, but he did talk about fighting "laws we disagree with". It was only a week or two after same sex marriage was legalized, so it was pretty easy to figure out what he meant. Awkward, too, given that we used to have an organist who was gay.

@Steve0C
@Steve0C 8 лет назад
It seems like more and more people are coming around to that, but it seems like there is a big block of voters that just figure that there is a chance that Trump will appoint supreme court justices that will try to overturn Roe V Wade, try to push for criminalizing planned parenthood, and getting rid of gay marriage, so because there is a chance that he will do that, they can do mental gymnastics to justify that it is the Christian thing to do is support him regardless of his character.
@gaiagba
@gaiagba 8 лет назад
does trump even support the banning that stuff? i never eared him talk about it
@Steve0C
@Steve0C 8 лет назад
I don't think he does either. As of the early 2000's Trump was saying that, while he wasn't a fan of it, wouldn't ban partial birth abortion, let alone make all of it illegal. It's more of a Clinton administration 0% chance of that happening so even a fraction of a percent of a chance is the "better alternative."

I hate the pledge of allegiance. I don't want to pledge my allegiance to shit, no matter how good. If I was pledging my allegiance to infinite resources, money, love, and talent, that's still idiotic. I have no desire to swear fealty to anything or anyone. I have a huge resentment for authority because I feel like it's nothing more than limiting the abilities and rights of whoever is forced to swear. Rights and abilities should only be limited if, without those limitations, harm would be done to someone else or someone else's property. And yes, we still do the pledge in public school, from kindergarten. I haven't stood for it since 5th grade.

Regarding the point at the end, about the message that Christians should do good for the sake of good and not for fear of punishment- it's true, but it's a bit hypocritical coming from Kirk Cameron, who tells gay people they will burn in hell (as well as guys who submit to their wives in the bedroom).
@bucketfoot5306
@bucketfoot5306 8 лет назад
That is a completely secular moral philosophy, there is nothing in the bible that says you should do good for the sake of good, god seems perfectly fine with you doing what he wants you to do out of fear, he explicitly tells people to fear him, that is were the term god fearing comes from.
@Geospasmic
@Geospasmic 8 лет назад
bucket foot5 This is true as well, however the New Testament puts more emphasis on being born again, forgiven, washed clean, etc. and less on the fear of hell (though that's in there still). Stuff you have to do willingly, as opposed to stuff you do to avoid having your entire nation wiped out or whatever.

Alyssa K. Oh, God! was probably the best advertisement for Christianity ever, and it wasn't even a religious film.

Alyssa K. I personally loved The Last Temptation of Christ from Martin Scorsese. It is incredibly philosophical about the life and sacrifice of Jesus.

If the national anthem plays or pledge of allegiance plays, I think it's only respectful to stand up if it's a movie theater on a military base or in school, but if it's a normal theater, I don't think it matters. If you wanna show that much patriotism, stand the hell up, sing it if you want! But don't go judging others for not wanting to stand up. My opinion though, everyone is different.

Hey Brad, I know you've brought it up a couple of times, but are you actually going to to review Pureflix's Columbine movie? Cuz it seems like it's walking the edge of being the bad kind of batshit

For all four years of elementary school, we did the pledge every morning and had a weekly assembly at which we sang the national anthem, "My Country 'Tis of Thee," "Grand Old Flag," and "God Bless America." (In case you're wondering - no, in a blue state.)

Chrisitian pure flix movie about the columbine, by the same guys that did god's not dead, and is based upon the story of rachael scott who was supposdly asked if she was a Christian before shot, but conflicting reports about this, and even if true, comes off as tacky and inconsiderate to everyone else that died

nerdy wolfwing I haven't heard of that horrible even before - I'm not from US - but it seems like an insulting movie to make. 13 people were killed, it's not like one of them was the important one. And, even though, it seems like she was good person, she's made out to be pretty much Jesus. And to be fair her "legacy" is nothing more than dime a dozen philosophy of a young religious girl from a succesfull country. Honestly it feels like her entire Wikipedia page was written by the same guys that did God's not Dead.

If I went to a movie that was about something I really loved, and I found out two people who weren't interested or disliked the subject of the movie were watching it anyway, I would respect them simply for the fact that they are there, at least. I mean, how many millions of people will not see the movie, but also disagree with you? At least you guys went to the movie, you can at least talk to the content of it.

75.6% of Americans are Christian. This would mean America roughly has about 247 million Christians, far more than what the film claims.
