This game is amazing. It is honestly one of the best games I've ever played and I go back to the Atari days in the 80's. The love for the comics is real. I pray we get more DLC and a sequel.
I'm holding out hope for a sequel. After the recent sales on multiple platforms especially steam both the all time and recent reviews are overwhelmingly positive. They just need to realise the game itself didn't fail it was the insufficient bad marketing that gave a false impression of the final product.
I just got the legendary edition for the black Friday sale, it had a season pass and everything. I am enjoying the hell out of the game. The social part can drag on a little bit but people can't deny all the content they put in here, The best part of the game is the tactical gameplay. The release date hurt the game unfortunately and the season pass was expensive too. This game reminded me of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 for Switch, There are many Marvel heroes to fight with and take on missions. I didn't know they considered it a financial failure, that sucks to hear. I would have loved to have Firaxis to do another tactical game focused on Marvel characters
This game is so underrated. I think people saw it was a card game and skipped it. I know I did. But they did a free weekend at some point and I was kinda blown away by how much I liked it. I say that as someone who hates card games. The cards really aren't the annoying obstacles I thought they'd be. The gameplay is quick and snappy and I don't think I ever found myself in situations where I had no options due to bad draws. Also the game is surprisingly long. Took me 87 hours to get through it. But I did all of the side quests and conversations, and a ton of the optional randomized missions. If you like superheroes or Mass Effect's social stuff do try it out. It's a lot of fun.
Game is great I got it on launch and am now doing a second playthrough with all dlc and its amazing only thing I will say is the social aspect when you have every single character can drag on on for abit so I recommend to anyone playing Google the best hangouts gifts and havens for each character so you can increase friendship quicker
What a fun game. I've been spending over 200 hours on this game. Not so funny at the start but once you are more familiar to the mechanics, building decks with the right mods, the gameplay becomes very addictive.
got it on sale. the crashes on startup really hurt it tho. the external launcher just makes things worse. The game is fun tho, and the animations are top notch! face animations sometimes miss, but the voice work is amazing! The game borrows the social aspects from persona series, which is a good thing. If you can get the work around to avoid startup launcher problems, it is a great game. The best thing about the game is that it is really loyal to the comics/lore - the writing/story/character interactions are very well made. Another Problem I see from the negative comments is that this game plays VERY DIFFERENTLY FROM XCOM... do not expect a tactical strategy game like the xcom series, instead this game plays more like a CARD BATTLER/DECK BUILDER with some environmental/positioning bonuses - and you will know what to expect - therefore have a better time with the game.
7:22 yea the social aspect is funny soon as I discovered that i need higher friendship level to unlock their abilities i was excited but i was disappointed when i discovered i could lose friendship levels depending on the choices i pick 😅😅
Legendary edition for $34 on sale (reg $99). Over 80 hours and shooting for Platnium trophy. Great story. Fun combat. Recommend for any Marvel fan that likes Xcom style gameplay. Building friendships with the heroes was a decent distraction and helps you connect. For instance, when I first started playing, Magik and me were at odds. Then after getting to know her personality we started to bond over child traumas 😆 All the characters personalities are solid. Especially enjoyed Robbie Reyes, Peter Parker, and the banter between Tony Stark and Stephen Strange is hilarious "Dr Spooky" Don't miss out on this if you're on the fence.
Yes I have it for PlayStation 5 and I love it I can't stop playing it so much so that I'm going to buy it on steam just so I get better graphics on my computer I hope for access does a sequel. They sold 7 million console units they didn't even report how many they sold on PC and for the company to say that it was a failure is ridiculous
I day one'd this game (Knowing it was Firaxis and Marvel), and though I really hated the fact that it was a Card Game, I was taken aback by just how much love and quality this game had. It made me actually enjoy Captain Marvel, Niko was actually a favorite character of mine, the conversations reminded me of the old KOTOR games way back. I plan on restarting it with all the DLC.
not just a cash cow as expected in the height of the mcu popularity, a lot of heart and love were put into making this game you can see, the attention to details were unmatched, like how each character plays so differently and how their movesets captures the spirit of these characters. this game did captain america justice, because he does feel like a shield in the game protecting his teammates.
I love this game , I just got back into playing it cause I've been to busy with life I bought a his game a few months back and I love it , I hope to see another one of these games someday it's awesome
I never had the time to play it when it came out, finally had the time to play it just finished it tonight and fell in love hopefully they do continue the game my hopes aren’t too high but here’s hoping anyway
Great video dude! I just purchased last week for the sale under $20 for the digital edition. I’m about 10 hours in. The game is fun to me even though i hear a lot ppl I’ve seen took a crap on this game. Even though I didn’t think i would like the turn based card style but its getting addictive but they could very well do a lot more with other marvel heroes with dlc but I don’t think they made enough money to do so. The game is coming up on a year and its been about 6 months or so since the first dlc and I don’t think they will release new dlc because of low sales
It's the best game they've ever made and sadly it failed, I love the hell out of it. For me the only downside is it has too many avengers and lack of xmen. I really rwish for a sequel but knowing that ceo's mindset it never will
I got this on PS5 for the Enhanced Edition for $20. I enjoyed it so much I shelled out for the Season Pass for $30. The only problem is the Season Pass wasn't on sale and retailed for $50. Even with a 50% discount, that would have put it around $25. So instead, I wound up getting the Legendary Edition to get a digital copy of the game, the Season Pass and the Legendary Premium Pack. Why did I want it physically? Because I'll still be able to enjoy the base game for a while until the game breaks and I cannot replace it AND when PS5 is no longer supported. Which won't be for easily a few years. I'd say for $50, I got a pretty enjoyable game out of it and I feel the Marvel energy coming from it. Far more than I got out of the Avengers game.
I ended up grabbing it on sale in 2023 with all the DLC, and it ended up being one of my favorite games that year! The combat was fun, the open hub area was fun to explore, and the friendship system made me feel a deeper connection to the characters. The mod selection was nice, too. This game also has my favorite versions of Blade and Morbius. I don't think we'll ever get a Morbius like this one, and that pains me. Even though 2k considered it a commercial failure, I hope it gets a second chance! This could be the beginning of a fun new franchise!
Midnight Sun's is the first game in many, many years that I bought all of the DLC, I didn't order the game that had that included because I thought I wouldn't want it but I did and bought each one on the day it came out. The guy may have done a Robert Downey Jr. but that was exactly the same way Tony Stark was in the Comics too. It is just that Robert Downey Jr fit the role so perfectly.
I didn't even know that was her in the New Mutant movie until Lockheed showed up 😂 that's how much I forgotten about the character. I was like this movie sucks oh wait shit that's Lockheed 😂
This game was amazing i loved every single minute i spent playing, from the exploration, to the hard battles where a boss spawned randomly. I wish they could give us an XMEN game like this one.
I have all of the Dr Strange Midnight Sons, plus a few Ghost Rider ones, and I'm a huge fan of Divine Divinity 1 and 2 (there'd be a 3 but for BG 3, which I can't play on my platform}, so this looks like it'll do the trick but with all the comic book history and none of that MCU crap all watered down and wrong. You did a really good job on this, thank you. I'll play it, but have to wait first for a used hard copy, digital is a scam.
So you don't want a game that makes you use your brain when it comes to tactics. I used to hate turned based games but as I got older I realized what makes turned based games great and the story alone makes it worth it imo
finna get it rn! its on sale the legendary edition for 30 bucks on the ps store cant beat that imo.. i played the demo when it first came out and really enjoyed it but i just forgot about it and i have to really be anticipating a game to get it at full price in todays era lol most of them are 40% finished buggy bs until 6-8 months in lol but im excited to see what its about in its entirety
I got the Ps5 on sale a few weeks ago for the Black Friday, and I got this game for 30$ with it. Also bought Remnant II for 30$ too. Both are cool. Can't wait for Tekken 8 though :D
Honestly, I thought that the game was a Mobile game from the original ads. I've only learned recently what the game is actually. So going to put down the lack of sales as a lack of focused Advertisements.
I never cared for turn based games, let alone strategy games. Because I'm a fan of Marvel, I considered checking it out. Suddenly, on a plain boring day, I heard rumblings through the air filled with wi-fi connections: DECK BUILDING! I noped out. Turn based games already use RNG to determine if what you select even happens. Now there's RNG in whether or not I get to choose what happens in the first place? Nah, that's more luck than skill.
I just picked up the legendary edition for £22 on ps store. I'm having a blast bit i really wish there was more combat and less chit chat. I would love another one of these with the x men cast only (way cooler than the avengers)
The few many reasons I felt this amazing game, didn't do well financially. 1. they kept moving the release date, no joke I didn't even know it got released when it did back in Dec 2022 until March of this year lol, and 2. They released PS4 and older systems versions almost in the middle of 2023 of this year. This was an issue bc many ppl still had trouble getting a PS5. good video and ur right this is an amazing game, I am so glad about the update, where we can keep our cards upgrades for a new game plus.
Dude I totally agree with the release date thing. When I was researching the release date on Google, I found many different release dates because of how much it got delayed and how it came out on other systems at other times. It's just confusing
@@PooopBro420 Exactly, bc of all the delays and the way they released the game on different systems at different times, I ended up getting the game in April of this year/2023, and the game came out in Dec of 2022 lol. I feel that had an influence on low earnings when it was released.
Turn based strategy is a niche market it’s either a I like it or I hate it thing I love this game my friend bought it under the impression it was like ultimate alliance 😅 he did not enjoy the game
love the game besides some quirks and one or two mechanics that was kind of jarring coming from the xcom games including the spinoff chimera. id be down for a sequel to this or xcom 3 with some of the mechanics from midnight suns. i just miss my army dudes and dudettes running around blasting aliens or hell if they just made a original ip thats more fantasy based with swords and magics idk
Great review, brah. I really like the game's corny dialogs, thanks to the great voice acting. I honestly believe 2K botched the marketing for this game. Like, they knew ppl will be on the fence with the card system, so why not just release a free demo for PC n consoles before the launch, let fans try it out
yea I do like it but I can tell this game was hold back like it make no scene of bring only two hero with you and to much microtransactions that it mess up the game so if we do get a sequel, I can totally see the sequel be better like bring more hero to the filed cause there be to many time where you get outnumber and you died fast so they need let you bring 3 or 4 hero with you and your choice actually matter like if you do something fuck up your hero would leave or better yet betray you that be good and dial back the microtransactions alot then I can see Midnight Suns a great franchise
Enemies are always the same and the hub world bs is waaaaay too much. I'd just enjoy much more to go from mission to mission to mission... but nooo, you do one and you back at hub to talk with a dozen people and do a dozen other stuff before doing a mission again. I usually have this same problem with most of these kind of games - like Fire Emblem Engage as well. They really need to pull back on the between-mission stuff in my opinion.
Bought on PS5 on sale. Not even a Marvel fan but loved XCom2 and I love it. Shame it's not supported anymore. Would also like to see a GI Joe or Transformers version.
Transformers battlegrounds is a fun cheap little game that has the XCOM turn based combat system its nowhere near as good as this or xcom but it is a lot of fun if you like transformers and xcom gameplay
The things I hate most with tactical games...non stop disposable characters, very generic repetitious abilities & they usually look horrible. I feel like if they really invested in the graphics more, this would have been better received. As is super hero games have NOT shaken their bad reputation despite a few really good ones-so they really need to say this is a AAA game & it looks it to break through that wall. Seems like the abilities look great & seems like good variety but the stages & characters need an hd graphic remix. But this vid has made me reconsider picking it up.
I love the XCOM series but the card element of this game is what lost me. Played the game for a couple of weeks then got board with the random chance to use powers.
i enjoyed watching your video and hearing your thought but if fireaxes had full control the game would have been waaay better and performance sucks, character models and world lacks any style when interacting with the heroes they have about as much personality as a bethesda npc and why is everything so glossy...gameplay has nowhere near the depth of an xcom game
Tbh when it cones to this fame all I cared about was them dope trailers they would release each week but overall the whole card strategy was a big turn off for me for I'm not tryna do card roundups abs all that but ykw I thought the story walk through was cool but yeah that's pretty much it for this game came and went real fast
