At 12:32 - At 9pm in May in Sweden, it might very well be broad daylight. It's close enough to the Arctic Circle to have ridiculously long days during the late spring, all of summer, and early autumn.
sheesh i would never do mushrooms immediately upon arrival in a foreign country and so soon after a tragedy in my family... dear god i would not survive it. gives me anxiety just thinking about it!
The time at 12:31 was probably actually 9 pm in Sweden. In the summer sun barely sets in nordic countries at all. So he wasn't tripping, it was actually that late and the sun was still up. That sometimes confuses people.
i have heard that before and i was thinking that but i wasn't that confident it was the right location though so i figured i might as well not say it just in case im completely off but ig i had the right idea!
Pelle brought them for the sacrifice in the yellow building. His brother brought Connie and Simon...They've tried to go... Mark pee on the tree, Josh take pictures.... They died before the big day. Christian is the only one who make it and has the joy to burn alive... There was no way to escape after the jump....in the Director's cut, Dani try to convince Christian to leave....
Great! A wholesome family movie to start off the day 😭 Despite a few uncomfortable moments, I think having the movie mostly take place during the daytime makes it way less scary to watch than Hereditary. There’s absolutely NO WAY I would stick around after witnessing what happened on that cliff 🙅🏾♂️
I believe it’s not just Christian cheating that doomed him, but the icing on the cake. Danni finally felt validated at the toxic nature of their relationship she constantly blamed only herself for. You are left open to view it as wrong or right or both, on both their parts.
Same thing happened to me, a girl came over to show me this and after she left I just sat on the couch in a state of wtf for hours processing what the hell i just saw.
Thanks, Matty! 😱 I have come to see this movie as a real anomaly. Yes, it's horrifically unnerving as only Mr. Aster can do... but the fact that the lead character loses her entire family, stomachs a neglectful boyfriend during the worst moment of her life... but ends up amongst a new family, new community... there's something darkly poetic about that. Those customs were actually part of ancient Nordic cultures. Wild to fathom. #MattyReacts #AriAster #Midsommar
At 29:40 - While you want to bring this to the Swedish police to expose this as hard as you can, you have to remember that they are a four-hour drive away from the rest of civilization. Quite probably hundreds of miles away from anyone else. As such... While the drive to expose them is sincere, HOW would they go about doing that?
I thoug the same, but the time the police arrive they eassily can erase the prove and come out with some shitty explanation like they;re using drugs and the foreigners got it all in the head and hid the bodies etc.
I love Ari Aster and his films XD He is making a non-horror film called Disappointment Boulevard with Joaquin Phoenix that I think should be out next year hopefully
I watched your hereditary reaction, it was interesting to see you pick something so freaky during the holiday season lol. Pleasantly surprised to see you reacting to this and other scary things during a more "proper" season. I agree this movie was more weird than anything
Midsommar / Hereditary Similarities *SPOILERS FOR HEREDITARY* I just realized both Midsommar & Hereditary have similar endings. Both ended with a lead character being forced into something against their will & being crowned. This one had Dani become the May Queen & Hereditary had Peter get possessed by Charlie to become Paimon. Also both movies had someone get burned alive at the end & then there’s all the gory head stuff earlier in the movies.
Not entirely. It's beyond that, in a sense, Dani lost her sanity, yes, but her reality was unhappy, unfulfilling and tragic. She had no one, no family, no friends, no nothing. So in her final scene, in her fractured, lost mind, she finally accepted the horror and decided to go along with it, she was finally "happy" and "free".
