Something that's stuck in my craw ever since Emelda mentioned how much she loved to see Valor 'Generated'. Valor is Never Generated, Kynim is Never Destroyed, it's a closed system. The whole system is built upon notions of obligation and recompense, for every Valorous action by one a little Kynim must fall upon another. Phineas knows this, he just doesn't understand how far the scales are stacked against him. It's a closed system, a system that allows for Inherited Valor. Once you break even every generation after you (barring some grand catastrophe) just starts snowballing Valor, which inevitably deepens the kynim burden on everyone else. The Upper Trust may not consciously understand this, but they do exploit it. Moc Weepe isn't a true believer, but he understands how Money works... and I'm willing to bet he can spot a liquidity trap when he sees one.

And then there's the matter of the Loxlee murder. There was a wealth of Caenum that was accumulated in that act, but never able to be assigned to an individual because his murderer was never brought to justice. The system as it stands is heavily imbalanced because of this cold case and that's what Weepe tried to bring up at the Upper Trust meeting. The person who is able to finally bring this murderer to account would, in return, gather the largest single instance of Valor probably ever seen. ---- Also side note that came to mind as I was writing this: I'm assuming that the Loxlees are the more Valorous family in the Trust because of their invention of easily manufactured foldsafe lighting. Does that mean that USING Loxlee lights incurs a small bit of Caenum? Just for turning on a light? Fucked up if true.

You know, i just thought of something... Jedediah Poms character bio said that he witnessed about half a dozen prime consectors before Jonas..... considering what happens this episode, i dont think any of them die of old age while holding office......

Love the sound of the microphone. The flickering and buzzing sounds make it sound like a faulty lightbulb which just compounds the feel of being interrogated with a bright light shown in your face.

Now we are seeing the real face of the trust and the realization that those in power will abuse it. Spar is going to reach a breaking point sooner rather than later. But the end really got me, really got me to think that Moc Weepe is playing the trust perfectly… despite what happened to him.

I thought mercer was a master storyteller and set quite a standard for the Critcal Role channel. I never expected 3 anonymous storytellers to so masterfully weave a possibly greater depth of story than Mercer on what could be called his own channel (along with the conventional cast). This has been an exceptional ride and one I look forward to even more than the CR cast's campaign. This is magic that modern writers wish their literature could reflect. You've all set a high bar and the arts in general thank you for it. If muses of ancient myth exist, they thank you for your efforts.

Spahr's hubris in thinking he was untouchable is mildly amusing watching it play out. Like Sherman alluded to, too little, too late to develop some kind of heart now. This goes for his treatment of Thatch. You can't lift people up via putting them down. So great! Love that Midst is back again! I missed you three!!!

Spahrs situation right now is pretty accurate to being a cop. All this power, and the only thing he can do with it is bully notaries. His career probably about to be cut off with extreme prejudice because he finally inconvenienced a couple of bigger fish than he himself is.

So glad that those inklings of Spahr being a genuinely good dude in Season 1 are being paid off in 2 with him actually being one. I hate that it's in the form of a man who the system had worked FOR his whole life, even as he worked for it, suddenly finding that he has to struggle against it... But, still very glad to see it working out this way, with him slowly becoming disillusioned with a clearly (from the outside) corrupt system. Hopefully his personal contact with Sherman will help him through the inevitable depression that will come with that process by being a sign pointing to a new direction. Also, I'm increasingly curious about how the Trust even rose to the level of power it holds at this point. How would a society like this even develop? Were there other company/religions in the past that the Trust knocked out/bought out over time? Were they a government that a corporation basically bought its way into replacing? I have a powerful need to know. Edit: Well.... given how that episode ends... that hope is WAY murdered, now. Spahr is... likely to ultimately end up powerful-turned-victim to some degree. Oh, man....

Spoilers: . . . . . . . . Spahr is definitely taking the fall for Imelda’s torture of Moc Weepe right? Since Spahr never reported it, he’s definitely going to suffer the consequences. Imelda and Weepe are both conniving bastards and now that Weepe has such valuable information to provide i can’t imagine this tribunal against Spahr is going any way other than badly.

@@VI_VA. Why? Weepe is many things, but not petty. Well, not That petty. What has Spahr done to him that wasn't at the orders of someone else? I'd say, the most satisfying revenge Weepe could have upon Spahr would be to see the look in his eyes when he finally realizes that The Trust does not work the way he thinks it works... and never has.

@@VI_VA.I don't think Weepe sees Spahr as more than what he is. A pawn of the Trust. Highly decorated and venerable, but a pawn nonetheless. No, perhaps even more tragically for Spahr, he is just collateral in whatever game Weepe is playing. And I think that is what Spahr is himself realising. That this is a game that everyone but him is playing, and that he is the one being played.

WTG Sherman take the deal from Weepe and use that as a way to keep looking for his daughter… you know you can trust Weepe more than the Trust 0since he’s only been burned by Weepe 1x not daily. (Nice line) So lets say Weepe has the info he needs now… to solve the murder and reap the biggest imbalance of beads in the universe.. starting cost was paying off Sherman’s account in the process, but that’s a small price compared to the injustice of the unsolved murder. Going to cheer for Mr Weepe at his dangerous game - because I hope he succeeds at getting all the valor - and then flips it into ‘something else’ - right before the value crashes.

@@evetobe Those 1st 20 seconds in the future - it most likely IS Moc Weepe about to go out with Imelda dressed to the hilt showing 'her pet project from Midst'... and how well he did 'solving the financial calamity' Kinda Makes me think 'he did succeed'... but being Moc Weepe it cost a lot (a few lives at least and a few betrayals) -but, he didn't mind the cost... because a monster does what it does. unless of course one of our other characters "out Weepe'd" Mr Weepe. That would be fun too!

Spoilers Well, judging by that glimpse of the apendex i saw, I guess imelda now knows Lark killed Fuze.... unless Weepe somehow managed to keep it to himself after that torture. Also, I have a gut feeling that the backpack girl is part of the Breached, maybe sent by Hieronimus as an escape attempt. I guess the real question now is whether Baron Lazlow is part of the Trust or not, because if she is, the trust will know exactly where Lark is. Finally, I think Jonas is gonna end up in the same situation that Phineas did back at the Black Candle.

That took Spahr long enough to realise that he completely caused the Thatch/Guthrie situation with a disastrously inappropriate "performance review" immediately prior to the Midst mission. Perhaps Spahr wasn't hired for his people management skills? I still wonder if the decision to "motivate" Thatch was initially Spahr's...

If I had to guess, Spahr's account is 'substantial'... too substantial to come from a lifetime of service to The Trust, but Several Lifetimes... (He's a trust-fund baby) He never really empathized with Phineas as a bearer of Kynim, has no idea what that burden is like, and absolutely no fucking clue what 'motivational speech' actually translated to in Phineas's ears.

Every episode. Every episode lately has been so much more LOADED than the last. Like HO-LY CRAPOLA 🤯🤯 ‼️ SPOILERS ALERT ‼️ Jonas Spahr starts to figure out he certainly isn’t the one in charge of the Trust. I’m willing to bet Imelda is more the commandant here. Spahr’s offer to clear Sherman Guthrie’s debt was recorded clearly (Thank the lord for Backpack’s response. She may become a larger role later due to this). Moc Weepe makes a HUGE move to get the tip outta Sherman Guthrie on the whereabouts of Maximillion Loxlee’s killer by clearing Guthrie’s (as well as his daughter’s ???) Caenum debt! And then we have the ending exchange of whether or not people can/will change. Will Weepe find a way to throw the Trust under the bus? Is Weepe really going to change? Or will Spahr be the one to change instead? Was it even Weepe who made the deposit? Or was it Hieronymous Loxlee using Weepe as a cover to try to help his baby daddy?!?! Is that why we haven’t heard anything else about Guthrie’s and Hieronymous’s conversation since it was mentioned??? GAHHH SOO MANY QUESTIONS AND NOT ENOUGH ANSWERS 😭

The Trust only knows how to get what it wants out of those it considers beneath them through threat of Kynim Debt (or sometimes worse), this holds no sting to someone who's been in breach. None of them would've thought to bribe Sherman with Valor, their Valor after all is too precious to be sullied so. But to Nuvou-Valourus Weepe Valor means nothing so of Course he can 'throw some away' toward his goals without 'budgeting for it' the way Emelda would, and just get shit done. And he has much more terrible work to do before he rests, and there ain't no rest for the wicked.
